longest shot with a .454 casull

I have a super redhawk in .454 casull, I was wondering what was the longest shot you would take at a whitetail with one?

Depends on your skill with your gun. After firing thousands of rounds through my BFR 1o inch with luepold scope I am comfortable with 100 yds and 150 yds with good rest.

I would say a good 100 yards i had read that the 460 mag has dropped deer between 230 and 260 yards

I would take a 50 yd shot with my scoped SBH, 100 if I had been practicing a lot and had a good rest. I'm talking real made in USA yards, not those cheap, little imported yards.

200yds from a stable rest, open sights, BRP 305gngc over 36gns of H-110

(always) is to practice and gain proficiency with your gun. For a very few shooters the range might be extended. However, use common sense,
evaluate your proficiency, and do not buy into some of the articles in shooting magazines of phenominal hits.

My big complaints against shooting magazines come from their general
failure to recognize the effects of recoil/muzzle blast on the average shooter combined with claims of performance beyond what a normal person can duplicate. This leads to the purchase of handguns and rifles
people cannot handle, with which they will never develop proficiency, and with which they will take shots they have no realistic hope of making.

Perhaps the old expression "A Man Needs To Know His Limitations" isn't applicable in the new century?

Defining average shooter really depends on whom we're discussing don't it?
My three daughters can dance a pop can at 100yds with most handguns including the Casull with real loads, not those castrated Taurus level loads.

I used to shoot silhouette Rams at 200 Meters with .45 Win Mag....10" barrel
Scoped Handgun...200 is do-able with lots of practice !!!

At about 200 yards it is down to approx. 350 Lbs. of Energy...The 454 Maximum point Blank range is 159 Yards !
