Ruger MARK 3 Question

I heard reports that the new Mark 3 pistols (and 22/45 Mark 3) were having problems with extraction/loading more than the older Mark 2's. My dad heard this was because of the new loaded chamber indicator, and other new features.

Does anyone here have a Mark 3? Any problems?

i have acualy had a couple of extraction problems do to the loaded chamber indicator, the shell gts cought betweent he new bullet and the loaded chamer indicator, it does not happen very often at all but it has happened a couple of times.
i view this as a very minor problem since it has only happen to me about 5 out of 500 or more rounds, and im not useing my mkIII as a combat or self defence weapon.

Tough call

It seems very difficult to get truly objective, quantifiable information.

Some of these guns may just need the breaking in that comes with several hundred rounds. This is not uncommon in semi-autos.

Anyway, the design is a step forward and it has been well received in the marketplace.

I would not hesitate to buy one and if I can save enough before Thanksgiving I am giving myself a treat other than a turkey.

I have not had any problems with mine. I keep it clean and use compressed air to blow the excess solvent and crap out of those close tolerant areas (like the chamber indicator and firing pin) and use a good oil to lub everthing.

I have run several bricks through my 22/45 with no problems. It's modified with mkII hammer and sear to eliminate the mag disconnect. I use a dry lube and compressed air to keep it clean.

I have a MK3, and have had no real problems. CCI velocitor, quik shok, and stinger have very few stoppages. Bulk ammo sometimes gets jams, but no worse or better than any other .22 autoloader I've shot (i.e. I don't think the MK3 is any worse than its predicessors). If I want total reliability, I go with my Smith .22 revolver.

Overall, I've been very happy with the gun.

My 22/45 shoots great. I have read where people are removing the indicator, but have no need to do so myself thus far.

My Mark III is brand new. I've only fired about half a brick through it. However, it gave me no problems at all. It was a pleasure to shoot - accurate, too.
