Exclamation Ruger M77/22R

Any of you guys have the 77/22R? How do you like it and is it worth the price?
I enjoy shooting the .22 due to low cost of ammo and just purchased a Remington. I still lean toward the Ruger and will probably be looking at it more closely soon.
Just would like to see some comments on it.

i have a ruger m77/22 mag and i absolutely love it. i am not sure what the m77/22r is? 22lr maybe? mine is the all weather synethetic stainless. it s also very accurate. mine shoots sub moa at 100 yds, about 3/4 inch groups. i have not had a chance to hunt with it yet other than one groundhog but hunting season is coming up so i hope to do a little longer range squirrel and rabbit shootin with it too.

I'm considering the 22lr version. It seems as though the rotary magazine might be easier for me to load and handle than the little 5 round clip for my Remington Model Five. That is the only gripe I have about it.

i don't mind the ruger mags at all. i have a 10/22 too, the 77 will most likely be very very accurate, but i would bet that model 5 does pretty well? of course i favor Ruger so i would rather the m77 than a model 5

I have a 77/22 that was only made for one year, it is a blued gun in a zytel stock. This has had a trigger job, rings lapped and the barrel recrowned with an 11* crown. It is a fantastic shooter. I also have a 77/22VBZ, it is the matte grey stainless heavy barrel with the laminated brown stock. I like the Ruger 77/22, it has good accuracy and it feels like a full sized rifle.

Mine is in .22 Hornet. I specifically haunted auctions and such looking for a Hornet chambered bolt gun just to mess with loading and shooting on my little 50 yd. backyard range, and maybe some shorter range groundhog shooting.

My biggest problem with the gun is getting a scope that allows sufficient room for my thumb around the bolt handle. There doesn't seem to be one on the market. Does Ruger make higher rings for this gun?

I have one that shoots way better then I do! This is a gun you will leave to one of your kids! I think it is worth every dollar. My gun shoots better with Wolf Match but it's a really close call with CCI and T22's. I use Wolf more for my confidence than necessity.

Yeah I have one of the blank de blank things! Can you hold your breath long enough to pull the trigger because I sure can't? It is a 77/22 Hornet I will never buy another Ruger that's a promise. 6 " group @100 yds.now that is a real shooter wouldn't you say, sent it back to Ruger they said it was within specs, and sent it back. Bull a 22 short will group better than that at 100 yds. stand back an throw rocks!! Make a long story short 6" down the tube a 3" space no riflings the 2 peice bolt wobbled like jello the Chamber was was sloppy and the list goes on. But the rifle was in spec. May as well took $649.00 bucks thrown up a wild hog's but and hollered suey,no more Rugers here!

I was just going to post about the trigger pull on mine. It shoots great but the trigger pull is kind of gritty. My home range is only 50 yards, but I get pretty much single hole groups with factory loads if I do my part. Kind of took the fun out of load development.

Has anyone worked on their trigger? Are the rimfire triggers gritty too? I haven't done anything with mine except to notice that it doesn't compare to the trigger on the Model 77 or the Model 1.

I, too, felt the bolt was a little sloppy in it's fit, but it works just fine.

I got my gun supposedly NIB at an auction for $300, no scope. My intention is to use it on groundhogs when I think the 22-250 is overkill.

I did a trigger job the first thing before trigger replacements were available. breaks crisp about 28 ozs. I also replaced the Barrel with a Pac-Nor they had a 1:14 twist factory contour replacement on the shelf. Tightened the sloppy two piece bolt. Free floated the barrel and Delren bedded the action.
With the tight new chamber and the tightened bolt it will do .45 @100 yds. with Factory Winchester 46 gr. hollow points. I do not roll my own for the hornet, it is to time consuming on the paper thin brass. Why bother when it will do this on factory fodder.
I am looking for a laminate stock for it now ,the stock is no good either it is very humidity sensitive it will warp to the right applying pressure to the barrel and will start slinging flyers.
So far the only thing Ruger is the stripped so called action. I now completely understand why you will never see Ruger at Matches.
Like I said no more for me!!
