Ruger LCP

Went to sportsmans today and was told that Ruger has stopped production on the LCP anyone heard about this? I was thinking about getting one. The guy mentioned a possible recall like the sr9.

Have not heard but this will not make me happy!. I notice at Gander today that they are no longer accepting names for the LCP wait list shich by the way was around 30 names last week.

Thumbs up

I just got off the phone with Ruger and they denied anything about a recall. They said they are still back ordered thousands of LCP and it is still inproduction.

I would have been surprised if Ruger was stopping production on a product that is so deeply backordered and selling faster than deliveries can be made.

I really like my LCP and am glad I added it to my collection of mouse guns.

I've owned the 3AT and the LCP - IMO both are good, but the LCP is a little bit better.

Angry

I find it hard to believe that Ruger didn't know about this when I called last week. This recall doesn't necessarily upset me but the fact that Ruger lied about it does! When I called the denied any knowledge of issues with the LCP.

They must have briefly stopped production but I've been seeing them back at the gun shop. The new serial numbers must be out. Mine falls into the recall which I'm actually looking forward to seeing the changes they've made. The other good part is I was planning on picking up a couple of magazines this week.

Ruger has recently received a small number of reports from the field indicating that LCP pistols can discharge when dropped onto a hard surface with a round in the chamber. We are firmly committed to safety and would like to retrofit all older LCP Pistols. The retrofit involves installation of an upgraded hammer mechanism at no charge to the customer. i just read this on the website Ruger - LCP™ Product Safety Warning and Recall Notice

I bought the Kel-Tec well before the LCP came out, and it has been great. I did think about trading though once the price leveled out after the initial run.

Mine is on the recall list. I bought it the first week they were out. Mine was 01966 which is very early on in production. Guess I'll enjoy the free mag w/extension that they are giving out with the recall work.

Mine and my wife's are both on the recall list. Mine is # 3126. Hers is 29000+. Her original one was replaced about four months ago after a trip back to the factory. After the first four or five shots, it would jamb, and you had to take it apart to get the cartridge out. Sent it back and they said it was fine. Not! It did the same thing with both of us shooting it and making sure we weren't limp wristing it. After we got it back and it wasn't any better, they sent a new slide. That didn't help. So, sent the gun back again and they replaced it with a new one. Not a single problem with the new one. And, no problems with mine at all. Goes "BANG!" and is surprisingly accurate at 25 yds.
