I have been looking for one for a long time. Found one locally but it was WWWAAAAYYY overpriced. Even with the inflated price it didn't last a week on the rack.

It's a mighty unique gun. I've never met another person that had one. Never knew anyone at any range that I've ever been to that knows anyone that has one either. It's fun to pull it out at the range. I always get some strange looks and, invariably, someone will come over and either say, "What is that?" or "Holy cow, is that the 10/44?"
I had no idea what I was buying when I got it on my 18th birthday. I think I paid just shy of $200 for her. Wouldn't sell her now for 100 times that.
My only regret is that I've never pulled down a deer with her. Might have to put that on my bucket list.
My next-door neighbor had one once upon a time !! I tried for years to steal it from him. He would never let go. He hunted it on end of season doe drives in GA !!

Here is an old article about the gun.
The stock is just a bit different from the 10/22, but VERY similar.
Glad to see there is at least one more person with this little rifle Blaster.
I saw one at a gunshow last year, my buddy was and still is lookin for a pistol caliber rifle and i thought he mighta been interested, but i didn't have the cash to pick it up for him...if i remember correctly the guy was asking either 500 or 550.....guess that mighta been a steal? i shoulda tried harder lol.
I have had one for 28 years, it's got the walnut stock. I'll get the camera out and take a few shots. Great little bush deer gun. Too bad Ruger didn't come out with one in the .357 mag or .45 acp etc...
they are great little carbines, I've been told that Ruger dscontinued them because they were too complicated and expensive to mgfr. (like a lot of fine old guns) a few years ago they came out with another .44 semi carbine called the "deerfield" it had a similar action as their Mini 14 and used a detatchable mag. I've never shot one but could see how it would be an improvement over the old style. I havent heard much about them lately, I wonder if they are worth a sxxt. I sure would rather have a detatchable magazine over the 4 shot tube. anyone have one of them?

I love the ad! I doubt anyone here doesn't wish they'd bought one of these carbines with a "Matching Super Blackhawk" at the whopping sum of $222 for the pair!!

Holy cow! $800?! Too bad I'll never part with her, I could almost get another two CETME rifles for that!
I liked that Deerfield Carbine too Blaster. I thought the removable mag would be a nice feature as well. But I went and checked them out a few years ago and...well, the mag is only 4-round cap (and I have never seen an aftermarket higher-cap one produced), and the gun is heavier (by a pound) than the Deerstalker. It wasn't worth the change for me...not that the Deerfield isn't on my Ultimate Collection list. But it's pretty far down on that list since I already have the Deerstalker.
I can't believe I have another gun that you have LakerDad! That's nuts! It'd be different if we both had an AR and a Glock, but a CETME and a Ruger Deerstalker? What a bizarre coincidence.
I found my camera, so I'll try to take pictures of my Deerstalker some time this week. I need to get it out and give it a good cleaning anyway since I finally found a range with something over 50 yards.
I saw one walking into the gunshow in Dalton this weekend. I thought it was a 10/22 from a distance and asked the guy what he wanted, whereupon he said it was the .44. I should have asked him the price then, but didn't. I tried to find him walking around inside later, but had no luck.
Those are sweet little guns, super brush guns for deer. I'm thinking I need to put one on my want list and keep my eyes open. Maybe I could sell my SKSs and get into the Ruger instead. With the Redhawk, it would make a nice pair.

GREAT minds think alike??? or we have good taste? well how about we like guns!!! hope to see your pics...thanks dog party
Used to have one but got rid of it like a durn fool, all I would a had to do was change them tired old springs out!
at 10degrees the semi auto turned into a single shot, it would fire and the bolt would stop moving 2/3's the way into battery, ya had to push the bolt closed the rest the way, I had that thing appart many times even took it to a gunsmith, still never fixed the problem, when cleaning it thats when I noticed all them stampings in the action just wateing for some cold brittle part to break, I sold it to a Hospital Fella who thought it would be a good gun for bears while fishing, I thought I was ripping him off when I sold that straight pull .44 for $350, as long as it was warmer than 50 degrees it shot just fine.
