Was there some kind of directive from the U.N. that all Americans should have a viable 10/22 as a SHTF weapon? LOL

| My big problem with Ruger has always been their
triggers. To me this feature defeats so many of their designs. Otherwise, I do not hate Ruger products. |

I don't care much for Ruger either but I do own a few. It appears that what you want is a long bow and arrow set. Not bulky, light weight, and easy to clean. Unfortunately when you deal with firearms you must have a give and take attitude. You can have the best of both worlds but you need to shop around and find what you desire but you still will need the GTA. I don't believe anyone makes a self-cleaning firearm yet but I'd bet if you wrote to some of the manufacturers, they'd get a good laugh.

Their triggers do sorta suck for the most part. They only make two accurate rifles, the Number 1 and the 10/22. Heck, I thought ya had to have a 10/22...just because.

I have owned Rugers over the years, all the way to a GP100 and several others. I recently got rid of a Ruger Mark II that I bought brand new. Dang thing can't jamming on me, and was a real pain in the butt to reassemble, compared to the old Ruger Mark I, I owned many years ago and NEVER did jam. Now I have a SP101 in .22, a real rare gun, and a 10 22 in stainless, think it is the all weather carbine. Love both of them. Bill Ruger pretty much knew what he was doing. If you don't like Rugers then buy something else. Reb |

I have never found a pistol or rifle that did not benefit from some judicious stoning or fitting of the trigger mechanism.

So, you don't like Ruger's, So what??? Why do people come up with an uneducated opinion about a product or company, or their buddy decides they don't like it so that must be gospel. Why tell it here, who cares, or are the rest of us to quit liking ruger because he does not like them??? Really, what is the purpose or sense of a thread like this??? |

For rimfire in particular they are hard to beat. I have a Mk III and a Super Single Six 6.5" stainless model. The MK I-III is steel, accurate, reliable and has a solid grip. It is somewhat involved to disassemble. And a fancy one like the Mk.III Hunted costs less than half of what a SW 41 runs. The 10/22 like all .22 autoloaders is filthy and hard to clean. Still, it is pretty reliable and that reliability is enhanced with the rotary magazine which gives each round its own parking space. I keeps 10 rounds flush with the stock. All their single-action revolvers are good. The transfer-bar safety allows six shots to be loaded and carried safely. Their double-action revolvers are very nice too. They are solid steel and nearly indestructible, but still cost less than SW. Their autopistols are not exactly the Cadillacs of the industry. Still, they are tough and reliable and problably the best of the budget-grade pistols. As far as the LCP goes, I have no idea. I would not buy a gun that small. The Mini-14 is its own animal. It is made to be a compact, pest control gun, not a tack driver. Ruger is one of four American gun makers with its own hot steel works. SW has its own hot steel, but I don't know who the other two are. | |

I love Rugers. Especially my 77/22 mag. Buy one of those you won't be disappointed.
