I am betting my life on my Ruger SP-101. It's my CCW gun. I could have picked any of them, but chose that one. Plus, I talked to Ruger's Service Department for over an hour about left handed grips for my Mark III and all the ins and outs of the gun. Interesting fellow, learned all kinds of stuff. And my dogs are named Ruger and Ammo. I bought what I wanted, you buy what you want.

Just saw this thread and am amazed that someone with experience doesn't like Rugers. I've had many Ruger pistols in the past and never had a problem with any of them. To each his own but I would buy a another Ruger without reservation.

What happened? Did you buy all of these guns sight-unseen, without ever handling or shooting them before purchase? If you gave them the once over, then why did you buy them if you didn't like the size and weight? Sounds like the buyer didn't do his homework... But anyways, Ruger is, in my opinion, has one of the most versatile and reliable product lines in the industry. The 10/22 was my first gun and I will have it until I die. Theres no tellin how many squirells that thing has killed in its lifetime. There will always be a spot in my heart...and my gun cabinet for a good ol 10/22. Ruger also makes THE most rugged DA hunting revolvers you can get. I own a Super Redhawk in .44 mag and it is built like a tank. Aint too much you can do to keep that thing from shootin. I also own a P89 9mm and it is as reliable they come. And it is more accurate than any other 9mm I have ever had my hands on. I am looking into the P345 and LCP. I have handled both and the P345's slim grips fit my hands very well, and the trigger pull is smooth all the way. The LCP is just a neat little pistol. It would be ignorant for anyone to dogg on an LCP because you cannot expect match grade accuracy or a 1911 trigger pull out of such a compact gun. What you pay for when you buy one is the size and weight. If you have never seen or held one, I reccomend it before you form any opinions about them. The trigger on it is actually really nice for the size of the gun. And to say that a company is bad because it has had recalls is just rediculous. Ruger provides the best customer service I have ever seen, and not just for guns. They pay shipping both ways and, atleast with the SR9, throw in some goodies for your time and patience. Every company has occasional problems with new products, and Ruger makes it a point to make it right. The dedicated the entire inside of the back cover page of their catalog to recall information on the SR9 for goodness sake. That is why Ruger is an outstanding company. |

| I certainly would not put Ruger-an American company with its own hot steel foundry-on the same level as Taurus. Does Taurus has it's own line of anything, or is everything they make a knock-off of someone else's work? As far as lever-action rifles go, Marlin is top drawer. They're a lot better than that imported crap sold under the Winchester label these days.

My 10/22 is the only semi-auto 22 RF that I own that has not jammed on me yet, and I've had many thousands of rounds through it. Of course, I have had the occasional dud round that fails to fire, but that's not the gun's fault. The stout and robust Ruger 44 mags can take any 44 mag commercial round you care to punch through it, including the big heavies. |

Ever shoot one of these? Maybe you'll change your mind. If not, that's ok. I still like 'em. |

My kat likes my Single Six...... ![]() ![]() Brooks loves her Mark III ![]() ![]() I just finished field stripping the Mark III for the first time .( My farrier [ horseshoer ] was out and I asked him how often he field strips his guns and he was like ; " Every single time I shoot , of course ...don't you????? I was like; " Ummmmm...." ) It was kind of a pain getting the mainspring pin out of the top of the receiver and reassembling it but I'm sure it will be much easier after a few more times. She also loves her 10/22. ![]() ![]() It's not real great beyond 50 yards , but for $200 , what the hell do you expect? Horses like Vaqueros ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So you don't wanna Ruger. Leaves more for the rest of us. Last edited by B 'n B; 02-01-2009 at 10:06 PM. |

I want an old model .30 carbine Blackhawk...the new ones seem very cheap material-wise. Like I said, I'm not fond of Ruger but I do own several and am fairly happy with the ones I do own. What happened to the guy who started this thread? He give up? Can't stand the heat; don't start the fire!

I like Rugers, own several, I think they are better guns than a lot of the stuff that costs more. No Brazilian made boat anchors for me!

I can't say that I love all Ruger's, just the one's that I own, and all the one's that I want.

Just went to the range yesterday with me and the son-in-law carrying 10 22's. I really love this gun. Got me a new 25 round magazine, and shot couple hundred rounds with no malfunctions, shooting Remington Hollow points. Always thought Ruger made good guns, sorta the Chevrolet of firearms, not too fancy, but functional and affordable. Like I said before, Bill Ruger knew what he was doing. Reb |
