You are correct the SR9 did have a recall. My co-worker has one. He told me that someone claimed they dropped a loaded SR9 at a gun range and it "went off" so Ruger being the responsible company that they are recalled them and double checked the firing pin or something like that. He says his SR9 is fine.

I think I may look into buying a P95 since the magazines are interchangeable with my P89.

Am glad to be an old hick (but very late-bloomer with guns) who enjoys his used Mini 14, 30, SKS and MN 44s (+.22).
To clarify and provide a more accurate portrayal, the two Promags for the Mini 30 are so far as reliable as the Ruger 20-rounder which came with the Mini 14.

Just an unlettered, unwashed Russian peasant conscript (Spetznaz rejekt) with vodka-breath, who lusts after long-legged Czech, Nederlands and so-called 'Belgian' jevrouws. Heel mooi en lekker .

True, Ruger dosen't build the prettiest guns, but they do build one of the strongest, most reliable, and least expensive guns on the market, when they stick to their own design, (ref, the LCP which is a Kel-Tec design).
What about Hi Points ?

I also buy on appearance. If someone GAVE me a Glock it would be traded A.S.A.P. They are UGLY. Yes, I hear they are good guns but there a lot of good guns. I would trade it for a Springfield Armory 1911.....

What about the zombies billy? I mean wouldn't a nice .22LR be perfect for close encounters? No recoil, high capacity, easy to suppress so you don't attract more zombies, fairly accurate and they are known to go into something and then rattle around while inside.

Come on! Small caliber guns have some uses....

I will admit that AR15s look "cooler" than AK47s but I can buy 3 AKs for the price of one AR15. I still want an AR just need to save up for it, it is going to be my next purchase.

i just bought a hi-point 9mm...its my new 'trunk gun'. for a hundred and fifty buck (160 with a cheap box of ammo) its a gun well worth it so far. cheap, fires when i tell it to, doesn't when i don't. i like it....and if you have a hundred and fifty and a car without a gun in the truck. throw one of these babies in the trunk and let it roll around. its ugly but im not entering it in any beautiful gun contests.

as for ruger....

my vaquero is one of my trusty guns....shes a champ, nice to look at, feels good in the hands, fast as me no more no less, but thats the only ruger i ever owned....

Sir, I never meant to hurt the AK's feelings and I like mine as well a lot. I just think the ARs look cooler. I like the more modern look of firearms. That is just my opinion.

I could never bring myself to buy one because I could buy 3 AKs or 2 AKs and a crap ton of ammo for the price of one AR15.

I like good looking guns too, but there are some good looking guns that are real pieces of crap. But they make good paperweights. Then there are some butt ugly guns that are some of the best shooters around, such as Rugers, TT-33, Glocks(can't believe I said that)and that thing called a Mateba Auto-Revolver.
It takes more than appearance to make a good gun.

The lesson to be learned here, if you are smart enough to see it, is don't get on a Ruger Board and start running them down, and be very careful running them down on any other Board.

The first gun I ever owned was a 10/22. I would take it out and shoot a brick of 500 through it without ever a jam. I thought "Ruger Was God" until I bought a P85. The trigger pull had so much creep and grind to it I never new when it was going to go off, couldn't hit a thing with it. I even had the trigger worked on, didn't help much. Their 22's are great, but their other semi-autos I stay away.

Happy ending

Just for the sake of curiosity randomwhiteguy, may I ask how old you are and how many firearms do you actually own ? I am 67 and presently own 15 assorted firearms and have owned many more in the past. Got my first one when I was 10. Still have it. PROUD to be an " OLD HICK ". All is well that ends well !
