It never fails to astonish me that topics like this get so many replies. Oh well whatever fires your rocket I guess. Personally I like all guns, though I only own a select few. What one person hates another loves and does it really matter one way or the other. People thrive on controversy it would appear.

Most of my guns are foreign milsurp... my ruger mkII is one of the only American gun I have. I like it. It shoots well and has a really nice feel to it. It has a bull barrel and adjustable sights, so it really helps me work on my shooting. It functions well and the only problems i've ever had were some misfires while using 1950-60's vintage ammo. Sweet little target pistol.

I had a Mark 3, 5" Bull Barrel and could hit steel rams at 125 yards every time with ease. People looking on thought I was some kind of Jedi Knight. I can't hit doodely with a normal service pistol past 25 yards.

True, Ruger dosen't build the prettiest guns, but they do build one of the strongest, most reliable, and least expensive guns on the market, when they stick to their own design, (ref, the LCP which is a Kel-Tec design).
Exactly, like those idiots who would buy a ferrari or a corvette or even an old mustang just because it looks nice. Definitely something pathological about that.
...so all I'm really saying is, this is America, and people are entitled to buy guns for whatever legal reason they can come up with. Is buying a gun for historical value really all that different from buying a gun because it looks good? Not every decision I make is based on practicality, and it shouldn't be.
I don't buy guns based soley on appearance, but it is something I factor in. I like to, when I can, get stuff that I can be proud of, and something that looks sharp and functions well is just a natural fit for me.

It's kind of the same story with me, Tarus Fan. I'm sorta all over teh place with my Cz 82, but with the ruger... I knock the cans down one after another, and at pretty good range too (maybe not 125 lol)

Come on guys and gals! Don't give randomwhiteguy a hard time. I for one think Ruger is one of the best manufacturers out there, but nothing I say will change his mind. I have been buying and shooting Rugers, Mark I & II, 357 & 45LC Blackhawks, M77s, 10/22s, GP100, and SP101 and lots of other brands since the 1960s. I find that most of the failures of the guns I have shot are from the finger on the trigger. It is easier to blame the gun for our own faults. With a few exceptions modern firearms will shoot better than the shooter.

I'll bet Randonwhiteguy likes Ruger he is just trying to provoke a response.

I own a P-89, a P-97, Model 77 in 6.5x55, a 357 magnum GP-100, Redhawk 41 Magnum, 22 semi-auto pistol/10" barrel, 4 Vaqueros in 45 Colt, and a single-six 22 convertible revolver and wouldn't sell any of them.

The P-89 will eat anything I feed it.
The Model 77 shoots 3" groups at 300 yds.
The P-97 is accurate well beyond it's price of $325.
The Redhawk will shoot 8" groups at 200 yds.
The GP-100 is accurate and strong enough to eat loads that would blow up most other 357 Revolvers.
The 22 Mark II semi-auto pistol will shoot 1" groups at 50 yds and has never jammed while shooting it in plate and 'pin competitions.
The Vaqueros are the standard by which all other Cowboy Action guns are measured against, and never break when reliablity is a must.
Thge single-Six will eat 22 magnum or 22LR and points like a good six gun should.

I handled a SR9 3 weeks ago, and I hated it. Even at $325 brand new I think The trigger sucks and the grip is too thin. I'd take the P-89 over it in a heart beat.

Is that reason enough why I like Ruger guns?

come on be nice. 7500 rounds thru my sr9 and not a single failure. trigger gets way better after a couple hundred rounds.

You were the only one with a well thought out response and knew rugers.

I wonder if Random WG has had any offers from Ruger for keeping this thread alive. Sure is good publicity for them!

I didnt bother reading all the posts either but this whole thread is ludicrous.

Rugers I have owned or currently own.

P95 - 9mm, didnt like it, to fat, worked well though, no problems with it, just didnt fit my hand right

Mini-14 - Great gun, awesome gun, reliable, accurate, a ton of after market mods so you can buy the barreled action and make it look like anything you want to. No reason I can think of to not like this gun.

10-22 -ditto on this gun, same thing as the mini-14 but it shoots 22lr

Ruger M77 - 22-250, one of the greats as far as bolt action rifles, ask any long time gun owner and this will be on the list along with win mod 70.

Ruger super redhawk - 357, great revolver, smooth but there are alot of good revolvers out there.

I am not a Ruger champion or die hard, but you cant knock them, and nobody is gonna take you seriously if you go around saying your a Ruger hater.
