Ruger 345 speed loader dealy

I tried using this thing ( even bought an extra for when I lose one) but I must not be doing it right because it seems clumsier than just slidin the rounds in with my thumb. Is there some trick I'm missing? It still only allows one at a time into the mag right? Is this just a gimmick or am I missing something? Seriously-I'm new to this because I took a 30 plus year hiatus from guns except for some pretty brief lessons with my children at an indoor range. My tiny daughter LIKED the 44 mag better than the Beretta we brought for her....

You don't really need a loader with a single stack magazine unless you are weak. My wife hates the thing. Now if you had a double stack magazine like I have on my Springfield Armory XD-45 you need it to get the last 2 rounds in it.
