I would love to have one, but don't yet. I saw one that was completely modded by a machinist/gunshop owner for like 700 bucks that was just amazing. he had redone the whole thing, had a regular laminate stock on it that was glass bedded. he had also done trigger work and the barrel was some sort of 10/22 barrel that i believe was titanium or something? idk but he cut it down and recrowned it and it looked sweet. according to him it shot sweet too lol. that would be nice.
If the receiver was registered as a rifle, then converting to a pistol would be an issue...
My receiver was registered as a pistil, therefor a rifle conversion is not an issue. The barrel is 16.5" and the overall length exceeds the legal minimum requirement.

It does appear that many people have an opinion on this topic of conversions... I have read many articles/threads that deal with this. The issue with a pistol to rifle conversion usually becomes barrel length. Had I left the original 10" charger barrel and dropped it into a rifle stock, I'd have an issue on my hands for sure as it would now be an SBR. For some odd political reason you cannot do the opposite...convert a rifle to a pistol...??? There are more details on this that I am not familiar with but its all pretty crazy..
I agree- lot's of opinions on the conversion issue. My understanding of the the law is that one can convert a pistol to a rifle as long at the barrel is at least 16" and overall length 26" or greater (http://quarterbore.com/library/pdf_f...edriflefaq.pdf). Now, once the pistol becomes a rifle, you cannot convert it back without re-registering it(!)
If the pistol to rifle conversion does not meet the above requirements it must be registered with ATF as an SBR and you have to pay the $200 fee.
Of course, the burden of proof lies in the the ability to prove if it was a rifle or pistol first and vice-versa. The TC ruling makes the issue more confusing: Converting Rifles to Handguns

based on local shop prices here to have the same work done, Id say this is an excellent value. Thanks for the link as I very well may look into this one!
I would love to have a Ruger Charger and so would a few people I know but the good old state of NY won't allow them. I gotta move 20 miles east to Vermont so I can have some of the fun stuff.
