I guess I'm a Ruger Guy

I've been in the Army for almost 13 years. My dad taught me to shoot on a Marlin 22 when I was a kid but I never really kept up with it. I have never shot that much in the Army unless you count TOWs, Stingers, and M242 25mm's. I've always been a marginal shot with the M9, and decent with the M16. To be honest, most soldiers in the Army don't get to shoot much. Officers shoot even less. We also don't shoot known distance. We zero and if we're lucky shoot a practice record fire and then record fire on a popup range. It's really hard to figure out what you are doing wrong on a popup range. I missed the instruction and feedback I got shooting known distance on paper with my dad.

I did not own a gun of my own until this past December. My Dad gave me a Ruger P95 pistol. I have since bought a mini-14 after being somewhat spooked by AG Holder's comments. I bought the mini because of price and because I hate cleaning M4's. It has turned out to be one of the best purchases I ever made. I'm shooting better than I have since I was a kid. I'm re-connecting with my dad around a commo interest and I'm supporting an American company. I'll admit I got the guns somewhat out of fear of the current administration but it has turned into a big positive in my life. I'm a Ruger guy, Thanks Barrack.

Hey jclem,

Love my Rugers: 10/22 carbine and GP100 revolver. Both are great fun to shoot - so much fun I'm skipping work tomorrow for a day at the range. I invited my Mosin Nagant 91/30 along, too

Welcome to the club and the site Jclem. The shooting fraternity is a lot bigger than you might think. The guys here are just the tiniest tip of the iceberg. The vast majority of us, far in excess of 99.99% in my experience, are the type of people you can count on when you need help. Glad to have another brother!

I'm glad your here nice folks here and as teh teach say your not alone I love my ruger's also there's just something about'em you know you got quality as others can testify some have had problems with theirs, but it happens in all man made tools... know what I mean again WELCOME....

shoot more....theres a reason why sargent york was so bad ass. i hunt with several deputies an detectives here an they can shoot for #$^$# either. kinda makes you wonder?

Even the Infantry guys don't shoot much anymore. I'm headed out today to get the wife's CCW. If all goes well, my wife and I will be at the indoor range tonight plinking paper zombies

I took out the long range paper zombies pretty well. My wife got the close-in zombies (pistol). She even switched to her left hand with the pistol and still outshot me with the cap gun. She'll keep me around as long as I have rifle ammo I guess

Hello and welcome to G&G jclem.

I only recently bought my first Ruger. A new model Blackhawk. Had some issues but I will say Ruger took care of it and rectified the situation very quickly.

I hope to someday get another one, but there are very many others ahead on my wish list...

I worked on tightening up my zero today. The targets were 9 inch diameter paper plates at 100 yards over the stock iron sights. I think I am pretty well dialed in with the Wolf 62 grain ammo. There was no sight adjustment between picture one and picture two and they were fired immediately after each other over the space of about 3 minutes. I think I was just goofing my point of aim on the first one since it was a white plate on a sunny day. Anyway, 4 of 5 shots on the first one and 6 of 6 on the second. I feel pretty good about the Wolf 62 grain. I also shot some Fedral 55 grain which was way low. I have a lot more of the heaveier ammo right now and on the way from Cabelas so I'm keeping the sights the way they are for now. I am struggling to deal with the irony of exercising my 2nd amendment rights more accurately with russian made ammo.

I was never a huge Ruger fan until I bought one then another, well you know how it goes. Three of my favorite shooting pistols are Ruger, the Single Six, Mark 3 and New Vaquero. I don't have a 10/22 yet, I know blasphemy by some in our survival forums.
