Got a new LCP

Well I finally picked up an LCP! Called about a week ago and told a local gun dealer that I was interested in picking up an LCP if he got one in. He said he got 7 of them of which a few were spoken for and then that next weekend he sold every single one of them at a gun show. He said he had some more on order and would put my name on a list of people that wanted them. Well I don't know if he was selling me a line or not but he said there was 2 on the list before me. I got a call on Monday saying they had one in come in and it was mine if I wanted it. I picked it up today and he said he got two of them in with an order of some other guns.

Anyone that carries this gun have any advise on carry method or hoster? I was thinking about a pocket hoster.

Anyone have the Crimson Trace laser grip for this gun? I am thinking that with the sights as primative as they are a laser would be helpful.

Both good ideas, pocket holster and a laser...

I actually like the LCP. Good little back up gun I think. But again, personally, it's just too damn small for my hand. But that has never stopped me before. lol If the price is right, and the money is there, and all other items on my wish list have been obtained, I'd probably still buy one. lol

Glad you picked one up and are happy with it. Be sure and give your opinion on how it shoots and from or at what distance.

That's a .380 right?

Yes, a .380....the gun shop only had two 20 round boxes of hollow points. i whill shoot up one box and use the other for carry ammo. I need to pick up some practice ammo too. I am sure that shooting the gun will be a pain in the hand. I don't expect to be very accurate at any real distance but the size of the gun and an okay defensive round equal easy carry. I figure a small gun in the pocket is better than a big one in the glove box.

We bought one for my wife back in November and she loves it. Problem is she wants to shoot it more than I can find ammo for it.

The sites are primative, but it's a very accurate little gun!!!
I'm (when legal) using mine in a pocket holster I picked up on eBay from a guy that makes them himself.. Great little gun!!

That's around what I picked mine up for, also, but I see that Gander Mountain has them on "sale" for $350 now.. I'm guessing they went up a bit lately???

I don't think the price from ruger went up, some dealers are just cashing in on the demand. I have always been a little suspect of the dealer I bought mine from but I thought he had a very good price on this gun considering the demand he could have charged more and didn't....in fact I would have likely paid around the $350 marke if that is what he wanted. I have a new respect for him and might give him the first shot on my next gun purchase.

Congrats on the LCP. I love mine. It's so easy to just drop it into your front pocket and out you go. Uncle Mikes side kick#3 sticks in your pocket and the gun comes out everytime.

.380s are nice, but good luck finding ammo right now. A guy on another board went to a gun show in Richmond, VA, and someone was selling his sole box of .380 for $45!!!

What is the SN of your weapon Just the first few digits can tell if it is a pre-recall or post recall weapon. Pre recall weapons can go off in your pocket if you have one in the pipe. I assume if you want it for self defence you will carry it that way.

Second issue is that you might consider corrosion with your weapon in warm weather. Carrying this weapon on your body in warm weather can make it rust. Mine has many pits on it. I plan on getting a Stainless steel or titanium cc weapon at my next update. It is no worse than a glock in this respect.

NAA makes a nice stainless auto 380. Taurus has a stainless TCP.

why not send the LCP slide off to get nickle plated instead of purchasing a whole new gun? At any rate if you wipe the gun down daily and keep it oiled you will at least slow down this problem perhaps even prevent it.

I have enjoyed carring this little gun for the last several months and I have to say even around those with gun since the gun is nearly undetectable. In jeans it is more noticable and prints more but dressy cassual pants and short (kakis and the like) the gun is nearly impossible to detect. I suprised several of my gun enthisiest friends at a get together when I asked if any of them had seen my new gun.....they all said no...do you have it with you? and I pulled the Elsie out of my pocket. They had all been around me for a couple of hours and didn't know I was carrying. One guy even said he looked me up and down to see if I was carrying and didn't think I was.
