Ruger 22/45 with subsonic?

Hey guys I just traded for a ruger 22/45 handgun and I wanted to make sure it works, but I cant get to the range cause I am babysitting my nephew. Wondering if its gonna be bad for the gun to shoot some sub sonic through it just to make sure its functioning properly/ Thanks

It might not function at 100% reliability but subsonic ammo won't hurt anything.
