It will be happy with pretty much any 22 LR brand. Hollow Point, Lead, jacketed, it's all good! You may even be able to get it to cycle subsonic rounds ( I think the MK III's have a tighter spring, so maby not...). Being able to use anything is good right now, since the panic buying has made 22 LR ammo difficult to find... I actually have good accuracy with some of the cheaper brands. Cyclone works well. Winchester white boxes have not been consistent for me recently, and I stay away if I can, but they mostly cycle and work if thats what you can find. Nice buy on the Ruger 22 though, They are very cool little pistols.

I tell you down here in FL the ammo panic is crazy. I decided to buy a MKIII so I can still shoot on a regular basis. Buying 45, 40, 357, 38 ammo has gotten a bit expensive for range shooting. I went to every Wally World looking for ammo and I did find some. Winchester Xpert HV 36 Grains 1280 FPS Winchester Super X HP 37 Grains 1330 FPS Remington Golden Bullet 36 Grains 1280 FPS I have been to gun shows on a regular basis and they are selling more ammo than guns!!!!!!!! Thanks for the info |

Not much better up here probably. Glad you got some ammo. Once the panic buying slows down, the artificial shortage will start to go away and it'll get easier to find again. I hope anyway. /em crosses his fingers I am tired of seeing uninformed buyers feed the fire too. The components table at the gun show last weekend was swamped with the uninformed tripping all over themselves to buy primers at $55 a thousand. Meanwhile, the gun store down the street had lots of them at $30 a thousand, which was still over priced. I also sat there and watched people pick up and buy the bricks of .22 Cyclones for $35 a pop. Insane! That's 7 cents a shot for .22 plinking ammo. Back on subject and off the rant, the Win Super X 37 are the white box winchester's right? Let me know how they feed through your mk III, if you remember. I would like to know if I got a bad batch, or my mk III needs to be cleaned. Idiot may be too strong a word, replaced the word

I personally (and in my own experience) prefer CCI 36gr HP Mini Mag. There are more accurate rounds for target shooting, but the truth be told (knock on wood) I have NEVER EVER had ANY kind of failure with the above mentioned bullet. If every shot with brand "A " goes into the same hole" but misfires or fails to eject from time to time, then I will go with the round that shoots a slightly larger pattern but goes pow EVERY time I pull the trigger. Just my experience...Every one's will differ |

Awhile back I bought some Remington Thunderbolts. They were horrible in my MKIII but they were also horrible in my Marlin. I than bought a bunch of CCI Blazers and have had one misfire or failure to eject.

Can't answer for a Mark III, but my Mark I hated, HATED Remington GPs. When they did feed, I'd still get duds and failures to fire. It wasn't unusual to get ten misfeeds, duds, or FTFs in a box of 50. Federals and CCI's? Nary a problem. I wouldn't take Remington GPs for free if they were offered. I doubt I'll ever buy Remington ammo based upon my GP experience.

Is ammo low everywhere? I have tried many places down here and there seem to be triple the price! If I can find any! I was thinking maybe going to South GA to some Wally Worlds up there the might have this (.22) on there shelfs as regular stock. By the way Thanks for all the replies! |

gotta hit wally world the morning after the truck arrives or it will be gone. small mom and pop shops seem to have no problem getting ammo. they are ordering very small quantities compared to larger retailers and they get their stuff because larger orders are harder to fill and go on back order.

Though my MKIII isn't picky, I always liked Federal bulk ammo. Fewer problems than the Remington Golden Bullets, far cheaper than the CCI Mini-Mags. Lowest F2F rate of anything I put in it.

I have a MKII and I shoot Federal Bulk Packs through it all of the time. I have never had a problem with them. I am on vacation next week and I will be shooting a couple of thousand rounds through it next week.
