Ruger Super Blackhawk

I bought this Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum 7 1/2" barrel used in 1983. I gave $200 for everything you see in the pictures except the ammo!

It goes BOOM when I pull the trigger! Let the wife shoot it and when she pulled the trigger she dropped the gun and grabbed her ears. My bad, I didnt have or give her ear plugs! Boy was she pi$$ed! LOL

Bought a new stainless with 10 &12 in. barrel back in about 1980 with a set of RCBS dies and 100 primed brass for $250 dollars. Best shot. A running couote at 585 yds. Haven't matched that since. I have a witness!!!

I've got a 3 screw I bought a few months ago for $275. Has holster wear, but otherwise a solid, tight gun.

I got all hot and bothered for a .41 in 4.5" and a Redhawk with 5.5" in blue.
Friday past; I met a Redhawk .44 5.5" and brought it home. Stainless
Sat. past; I met a Blackhawk .41 4.5" and brought it home. Blue.

I'll try and picture them up when i figure out how:

Still want me a Redhawk in ''Blue'' .44, Blackhawk .30 and .45 Blackhawk 4.5"

Steve,
I had the identical Ruger to yours...took 3 shots to bring a 214 lb. Boar down. Gut, liver and head.
250 grain Win. Partition Gold. I'm not proud of this kill either. It should have been one bullet, not 3. Others have told me to lighten up..Boars are hard to bring down.
Anyways...
At 25 yards that gun was dead (2-3 inch groups) on. At 38 yards I had 8-12 inch groups.
In the end I traded the gun...now I wish I had it back...isn't that the way!

A running couote at 585 yds. Haven't matched that since. I have a witness!!!

It's called luck.

I bought a Ruger Bisley Hunter in 41. Mag a few months ago and love it. It has a 7 1/2" barrel with a leupold 2X scope. I can put six rouds in a 4" circle at 100 yards. This is my second 41 mag the other is a smith & Wesson model 57. The cost of these rounds got me into reloading. I went shooting yesterday and can't believe how both of them shoot. I can't wait to knock down a boar with my Ruger. Allthough I think I'll pass on anything over 500 yards

^ Thanks !! I couldn't believe it when I saw it at a Gun Show. He was selling it for $300 and I offered him $275. It's a normal Alaska Bear Gun. Lots of holster rub and shot very little.

Years ago (15?), I traded a nickel-plated S&W 38 for a New Model Super Blackhawk, 7.5" barrel, .44 Mag.

Never looked back, this gun is 3x the gun the S&W was.

I posted this earlier on the post about the scope mount for the Blackhawk but did not get a response. It caught my attention at the time because I had just picked up a used SBH on Monday at my favorite pawn shop (I earlier wrote gun shop by mistake). It's a new model super blackhawk, blued, 7.5" barrel, non-fluted cylinder, with the squared trigger guard. It also came with a mounted Tasco red-dot scope, mounted with a weaver brand rail/rings system. It also came with a specially fitted large, nylon holster that accomodates the revolver with mounted scope.

I paid $360.00 for the whole thing (down from their 400.00 price). I looked up the scope mount on Midway USA. Its called the Weaver Mount Scope Base with 1" Rings. Product # 714989, retails for $62.39. The scope is about 40-50.00 So I figured just the mount and scope is worth about 100.00. It is very firmly mounted and this type of mount requires no drilling. It has a hex screw that tightens a C type clamp around the top of the barrel. You can see a great pictrue on Midway USA with that Product#.
My SBH is in great condition, no noticeable wear and not a scratch or nick on it. I looked up the serial number and it is from 2001. It looks like the one that SwedeSteve posted above. I plan to put on a Hogue rubber Monogrip on it. I cant wait to hunt with it. I will try to get a picture posted soon.

Any suggestions for ammo? I have never owned a .44 mag before, and know little about the ammo. I found one USA whitebox of 44 Remington Mag (hunting) at Walmart today and I bought it up. Please advise on the ammo.
