Ruger on the band wagon

At least they didn't go with a direct impingement model. Too rich for my blood though.

I'd have to go with the FN SCAR if dropping this much cash.

The Ruger SR-556

Nice rifle but it's too expensive for me as well. Guess I'll just keep scraping the carbon buildup out of my Armalite for now.

It really is too pricey and it looks like they are

aiming for the high profit panic buying market.

Tactical stuff doesn't do anything for me . If it doesn't have a wooden stock it's not a real gun.

It's a cowboy thing......

I want one. No way I can justify it though since I already have a perfectly fine DPMS and I'm moving to the People's Republic of California next month.

i really like the looks of it and the features.......

but in total agreement........too dang high dollar at a hair under 2 grand........

i could probably get a red label 20 ga and a mini 14 and still have a little left over for ammo...........

As much "panic/demand/worried" buying as there is, and being a "new" design, it probably will hover close to the suggested retail price for a while............

now if i just could hit the lotto..............

I sure like the chrome plated bolt group though. But not worth the money they seem to be asking? MSRP is $1995.00 YIKES! And I see maybe why. They went with Troy Industries rail and battle sites it looks like? And it comes with 3 30rd. Magpul Pmags and a soft case...Still not worth it to me...http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firear...=5902&return=Y

Here's a good li'l article on it from Guns and Ammo.

The 1900 price is the list price. Someone mentioned in the AR forum that it will sell for in the 1500 dollar range. Given the troy handguard and the gas piston are alread on the rifle the 1500 price is about right.

Nice rifle but I'll keep my Bushmasters. They can keep the gas piston too, gas blocks are for M14's.

Ruger has historically entered already popular product markets, but with something a little better (or a lot better). Many examples are its double action revolvers, single action revolvers, 9mm pistols, double shotguns, in fact, almost everything Ruger sells today, except maybe the Mark I/II/III, the 1022, and the Mini-14 (and probably others I can't think of right now), came out and competed with established competitors' similar products.

Anyway, Ruger has been very successful with this business strategy. So, here we have a truly enormous market already established for the AR-15 type rifle. As in past history, one of the most famous battle rifles becomes one of the most popular civilian arms. Ruger enters this market late, but comes in with a high end product with lots of standard improvements, like its gas piston, chrome plated innards, etc. We say it's too pricey but it's really not. Pricey compared to what? You can't really compare it to a stock, garden variety AR-15 because it's a different animal. It's a classic Ruger business move.

For those who can afford it and see it as what it really is, a step up from your average AR-15, it will be a very successful product. It probably should be compared to the SIGs and FN/FALS, not garden variety AR-15s.

It's good to see Ruger out there competing, rolling out new products, and making money. We want them to prosper.

I'd love to own one of these puppies. It will be a winner.
