Holo Sight on Mk III?

Is it possible to mount a holo type sight on a Mk III's included scope base? If so, what brands of holo sights has anyone had success with?

We have the Mk III Target model with bull barrel and a scope base is included with it.

When you say scope base, do you mean Weaver style ring bases, a section of rail, or Ruger's proprietary bases like on their rifles?

Ruger sells the Mk III Target with an included rail type base the owner can install. I haven't installed it yet. Still using the standard adjustable iron sights.

My Ruger MK IIIs came with a Weaver rail. It attaches with 3 screws. On the rail I mounted an Ultradot LT mini holosight. The base of the holosight attaches directly to the Weaver rail. The thing is super accurate and a lot of fun to play with. As good as many .22 rifles.

Clem, thanks, that's the Mk III I have. It sounds just like the setup I was asking about. How about the eye relief on this Ultradot? Is it ok? Do you remember about what you paid for the Ultradot?

NC Star makes a decent holosight with 6 different reticles and brightness adjustment for around $85. I have one on my AK, and plan on putting one on my MK III for hunting. If you are going to use it for targets, I would recommend a red dot with some magnification.

Eye relief is unlimited. I paid about $200 for mine. I am not sure at the moment where I got it, but this is what it is:
ALL NEW - ULTRADOT LT RED DOT SIGHT - ALL NEW [105-388] : The Shooters Box, Firearms and Accessories Online Store
Here is another site:
Ultradot L/T
Looks like the price is now up to about $225-230.
Mine is actually mounted on a MK II678GC. It has the same hole pattern and mounting rail as my MK IIIs, but I have VQ rear sights and plain post front sights on them.

Clem321, thanks for the photo.....that's a fine looking setup and that was one of my favorite Mk IIs. The sight is a good size for the MkII/III. Very helpful, thanks.

I really need to get a Ransom Rest. I have a bunch of guns I would really like to test. I feel the MK II with the Ultradot LT is super accurate, but I would really like to objectively test it.
