thanks!! i went and got a uncle mikes holster today . i have to bring in the top ruger to see what it is being the mags from the mk2 fit in it but the box says it's a mk1 so the guy at the gun store wants to see it.i'll see about getting some holsters for them too . i have a leather holster for one of them but i can't stand putting a gun in a leather holster.

Go to Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.
Click on "Product Service", then "Serial Number History".
That will let you ID which model you have.

Smile Call Ruger

tommy: Sir; back to your serial#'s; Call Ruger; a very nice lady can tell you your dates. Ask for a ''Letter'', in the past they have mailed them out straight away for free.

If their are any unusal marks or markings; She can ''share'' special run or not.

Generally I have the firearm in my hand when making the call.

follow up when you can. Thanks

ok i sure will the main thing i need to know is if my oldest one the 1950's one is a mk1 or a mk2 the box says mk1 but the mags from a mk2 fit in it now the gun store guy told me that some mags from a mk2 will fit because they did make some with the spring button on a certain side so i don't know.

The older MK II magazines were reversible.

i got a uncle mikes #6 long pistol holster . it works out just right too the holster is about 2" longer than the barrel of the gun and it's closed at the end so what i did is dropped 35 rounds down into the bottom of the holster just for safe keeping. at 10 rounds a mag thats almost 4 mags worth stored in the holster.

Ruger Mk-1, II or III shouldn't make any difference to a holster.

I bought a Soft Armor Lynx #5 for my short barrel Ruger mkII, which should also fit your Rugers.

If you have a longer barrel go for a #6.

These holsters have both left and right belt loops.
