| PC9 and clips
I own a mini14 and am as pleased as possible it is a great gun for all purposes. I am planing on purchasing a pc9. Are they as reliable as a mini 14? Should I get open sights or ghost rings? What is the difference? What kind of clips can you get for them? I belive they are the same as the P series 9mm. How many round clips did ruger make for them preban? What are the best after market mags? Also will a 10 22 stock fit a pc9. Because I would like to have a pistol grip stock but cannot find an after market stock for the pc9. thanks otto Last edited by ottos; 01-04-2003 at 07:01 PM. |

I have a 10-22 and doubt that the stock will fit the PC9. Perhaps one could be drastically modified to do so. Me, I'd rather either adapt a factory stock (like cutting off the butt a and mounting AR-15 furniture) or build one from scratch. Yes they take the same P series 9mm mags. I've fired one and it was nice. I think it had the ghost ring sites. I don't think Ruger made anything bigger than 15rd mags for it, but you can find up to 30rd aftermarket mags. Wish I knew which ones were better, but I don't. All I really know about aftermarket mags is that Western double stack rifle mags are crrrrrap. I hear Eagle plastic mags stink too. USA I'm not sure, as their plastic SKS hi-caps are good, but their metal SKS fixed 10rder needed modification. But you're not buying a rifle caliber gun. In any case, it is a fine carbine, so best of luck finding a good price and getting good use out of it.

I have bought a couple different types of high cap mags for my P95. The promag mags with the metal bottom suck. I had to file the follower and bend the lips to get them to function. They now work, but lock back the slide with the last round still in the mag. I only use these at the range. On the flipside, these are easily found in 30rd capacity. I bought a 15rd mag from cheaperthandirt.com. It had a part number of *422. They sell several different types. I think it is mecgar, but it has no markings. It has a plastic bottom like the factory 10rd mags and functions 100% perfect. I feel comfortable carrying it after never having a jam after about 15mags worth. Thanks for reminding me...I've been meaning to order a couple more anyways. Now if I could only get a Glock 20 high cap mag for $17:-(

I have a PC9 and have never had a problem from the moment I took it out of the box. !00% reliability so far with 10 round original mag,15 rd pistol mag.,20 rd USA mags, that's 100%. At 20yds a nickle will cover group if I am having a good day,the carbine has been faultness. Unfortunitly there seems to be nothing available on market other than mags, even 10/22 barrel band won't fit. If legislature is ever passed rescending the crime bill some more goodies MAY become available.

The mags are back again in CTD,15,20,30rd. I personally haven't tried 30 rd mags as I think that is a lot of weight for the spring to push with out increased chance of failure. Prices are running from $12.95 to &16.95 for blue and ss.

The only 30rd mag I have is a major POS. Unless you can get an old school ruger brand mag, it ain't worth it. Watch out for the mags with the welded on metal bases. They all suck!
