I don't think Ruger ever made a 38 Special GP 100. The GP 100 was introduced as a 357. By lug, I assume you mean the barrel under lug. Yes, by far the most common GP 100 had a full lug. I've got a 4" and a 6" and they're heavy duty, accuate and sort of good looking in an A10 Warthog sort of way.
I have the 6 inch 357 and love it. I love Ruger revolvers and wouldn't trade mine for the world. Yes I mean the barrel under lug. The full lug just looks so much better.

Brand new and first post. I'm quite a GP100 fanatic and the fact that I own one should confirm to you that yes, the GP100 was produced in .38 special but I have to admit that I do not know if a full lug was ever made. I certainly haven't seen one.
I don't know about a GP100, but they certainly did make a Service Six in .38 Spec with a half lug. Mine is a DAO originally made under special contract for the NYPD.
Ditto Tortuga great answer ! I am in the process of buying my 2nd Ruger a GP 100 .357 OH! I bought my first one in Naha, Okinawa a .357 Blackhawk for $35.00 in the early sixties flying off the USS Kitty Hawk. A spunker back then. Woody
