Range Report Ruger LCP w/CT trigger guard unit

Well I took my LCP down into the woods today to get the CT dialed in and it only took 12 rounds and everything was about as close to center bullseye as my shaky hands could put it.

Basics of the LCP and the CT
CT mounts by securing itself around the front 60 degrees of the trigger guard and seems very solid, adjustment is done with a .050 allen rench, requires very little adjustment from factory. The CT does not add anything to the size of the gun. The LCP is a 380Auto pocket gun that has very smooth edges so it won't snag anything on draw, as a result is has almost no sights hence the CT. The magazine holds 6 rounds you can carry with 1 in the chamber if you have a serial number 371, or a 370 that has been sent in for the fix. It is a no frills gun, no safety other than a very heavy trigger with a very long draw. The slide does not stay open when empty.

The Good, off-hand, hip shot, main-hand all go where the laser dot is, makes aiming a breeze. Like all 380's its got a bit filp to it but not nearly as much as a ppk which is surprising because the ppk weighs over twice as much. Groups were about 2 inches at 10ft and about 4 inches at 20ft.

The Bad, past 20ft I couldn't see the dot so I was unable to group 5 shots continuously on the 5 inch target, also the way the CT mounts on the gun it chews up the bottom of your trigger finger a bit when the muzzle flips.

Overall, I think it is a great like carry gun but I wouldn't want to do more that about 50 rounds a session with it because of the finger thing.

I am happy and would recommend this setup to a friend.

Been thinking about getting the CT for my P3AT. I believe it is the very same CT Laser as the LCP. Do you carry your LCP in your front pocket? If so, do you notice any difference carrying it with the CT?

I understand the concern about not seeing the dot past 20 feet but the LCP/P3AT weren't really designed to be used past 20 feet. More a 5 feet or less gun in my opinion.

I carry in my front right pocket, and it does not change the size of the gun in my pocket. It adds about 1/2 inch under the barrel so it doesn't change the outer dimensions of the gun. It is a very comfortable carry, often times I forget I even have it on me.

I've done that same thing with the P3AT. I use a Desantis pocket holster which I love. I'll find myself undressing at night to go to bed and my gun is still in my pocket. Being a Realtor I am in and out of the court going to the registry of deeds. I have caught myself coming out of the building and realizing I brought a gun in the court house. Luckily we don't have to go through the metal detectors to go to the clerk's office or registry of deeds because it has been honest mistakes.
