Ruger m77 hawkeye accuracy?

I really like the Ruger Hawkeye and everything about it but I've heard that the accuracy is a hit or miss. I was hoping too achieve 1 1/2" groups or less do you think this is possible with this rifle.

What kind of accuracy do you get with your new Ruger Hawkeyes and is this rifle worth buying.

I just bought one in 308 in stainless.Only put 20 rounds through it but seems
good.Ruger had a rep along time ago for hit or miss accuracy but some years ago
they started making their own barrels and didnt have the problem anymore.The gun is
great,smooth,balanced and solid.I like the integral scope mounts and rings...

What caliber are you looking at ?? What length barrel ?? Knowing these will go a long way in predicting accuracy. Also, if you reload, you can wring out the very best out of each rifle !!

Seems the new Ruger rifles are pretty good shooters (right at or just a hair under 1" groups at 100 yards) and the triggers are a vast improvement as well.

I haven't tried one of the new Hawkeyes, but I have owned a few of the older one's. I got a Model 77 in 6mm Rem for my grandson. It shoots everything I run through it with exceptional accuracy. The others that I owned were not very good. I will say that they feel and look really good.

Just returned from shooting my hawkeye stainless in 308.I was using Win. 150gr
in the new red box bonded bullets and got them for 22 $$.First three shots at 100
yards I could cover with my thumb.After the barrel warmed up the group was around
1 1/4.I was shooting prone on the ground with a bi-pod.Very windy and kinda shaky
so the bigger groups were my fault.I think I will stick with that ammo,and it a good
price...

Every rifle is a puzzle. Some shoot anything others are finicky and demand you hunt and peck for the magic bullet. But when you find it, shoot excellent.
I have a Hawkeye 358win. I shoot 180grn speer FP and 250g hot cores through it. both shoot +/- 1 1/4in through a new barrel. I have less than 100 rounds through it. I'd buy another. I expect it to get better after a couple hundred rounds.

I have found the Ruger 77 rifles to rival my Remington 700s for accuracy.

They are excellent bolt action rifles.

i know a guy selling one of these, the all-weather version, composite and stainless. for $430. im looking for a new hunting rifle actually but I know nothing about rugers.

This subject came up on another thread a few months back and most of the guys who weighed in commented that the accuracy knock on the 77's was old news and didn't apply to the Hawkeyes.
