Question Thinking About Trading for a Flatgate.

I have a Norinco sks paratrooper thats been sitting in my safe for a few years now. It's one of those I've never shot. I'm thinking about trading it to a Ruger Flatgate, if I can find one. Can someone tell me what a good price is on a Flatgate so I know where I stand on my trade? Thanks

Smile Ruger:)

PONTIACDM: Sir; quality; caliber, barrel config; all come into play
Choosing ''just'' 1; ??

Go to Gun Brokers; and do some checking; at gun shows; .357 4.5" very good condition; $375.00 a month ago; Most range in $500.00++; again depending on the condition

To be sure you are getting a ''real'' NOT upfitted; pull the hammer back; look down to the firing pin; if you see a flat piece of metal between the hammer and firing pin Up fitted; not the real deal

Good to know thanks. I didn't know people were doing that. I was basically looking for a high and low ball park figure. What I got from what you wrote is an average one is around $375 and a really nice one is around $500. I checked gunbroker before I posted this. Gun show prices and online auction prices differ a lot on some guns and not so much on others.

Smile Shooters:)

I want Ruger single actions; checking the prices as often as I can; ??? they are all over the place at Gun Broker
At ?gun shows? from time to time; I haven't any interest in 'collecting'; I want shooters; and would be afraid of messing up a 'collecter'

You want flatgate or a flattop? Generaly when talking about a flatgate people are talking about a singlesix with a flat loading gate that ruger used for a few years when they first starting building single sixes in the 1950s.

Here is a pic of two of my single sixes. The top one is a flatgate.

Yup .22 only. That's why I was confused when previous posters where talking about .357s etc... I thought he maybe was looking for a flot top, which did come in certerfire cartridges.
