i like sako better, both are great guns. look at the sako a7 for a good price with sako accuracy (not saying tikka's are not accurate) i get dime size groups with my custom v-max loads and nickle size with my custom hunting rounds(accubonds) o yea it is a 30-06 a7 . tikka's are good to, but my t3 only dreamed of shooting the groups i shot with my a7 maybe it was just me but i sold it to a buddy to get a new play toy(a bolt browning ). it really will boil down to which one you want the most.

Sako, which is located in Riihimaki, Finland, purchased Tikka about 15 years ago. Production for both rifles is now in Riihimaki. One further note, all the barrels for Tikka are made by Sako. They use a rather unique method of of lapping the bore to a mirror finish prior to cold hammer forging on mandrels that are only used for a pre determined number of barrels. The internal mechanism of the Tikka may lack a bit of precision that you might find in a Sako, but the trigger on a Tikka is fully adjustable and quite nice. The actions are of a proven design, and are also cold hammer forged and quite robust to insure additional stiffness. So, you get a very accurate rifle at a reduced price when compared to Sako, (and others)but still get a 'Sako' barrel. The T3 has gotten nothing but good press as to it's accuracy. I personally think they are one of the 'overlooked' bargains of the industry. Although that seems to be changing recently as word of their accuracy grows. I own a Sako 75 Hunter, but if I had to replace it, I would probably go with a Tikka and use the extra for a nice scope.

Go with the Sako. It's a lifetime investment.

If you can afford a Sako and a good scope, that is the one you should go with. I like my Tikka T3 lite for $500 and I can afford to put a nice scope on it. The Tikka uses Sako barrels as stated above which helps improve accuracy on the rifles end. I shot a .635" three shot group at 100yds with a cheap scope on its first time out. I shot this group while breaking in the bore and sighting the rifle in. Now I just need a good scope.

Well, you are really just talking about the action

as today's guns share the same barrels.

If you compare Sako to Tikka then the Sako action is smoother and more refined. However, the Tikka action can stand on its own as a quality
bit of design and workmanship. It will not disappoint you.

So, I would go with the Tikka unless you have the extra money and want to spend it on a Sako action.

Fit and finish is better in the Sako.

I have both, a Tikka m55 in 308 and a Sako hunter in 308. Both are super guns but if I had to pick 1 it would be my sweet Sako!! The craftsmanship is incomparable!!!
