| Savage Package Scopes Does anyone know what kinds of scopes included on Savage package guns? I'm looking into a 110, 111, or 116 in 300 Remington Ultra Mag. And how much would that scope cost normally? I've been thinking of getting one with open sites and later adding a scope when I have experience with the rifle. I'd also like to be able to use site accessories. But if I'd be shelling out a lot more for a separate scope, and the package scope is sufficient, I may be better off getting the package. Anyone know more about this? |

| A suggestion... buy the rifle and take a look at the Simmons Premium scopes (8-32X44) CDNN has for sale for only $139.95. These scopes are made in Japan and have superior quality to anything I've seen put out by Simmons,(akin to a Weaver Grand Slam as far as quality). SWFA has the target grade .44 Mag (6.5-20X44) for $119.99. I own two of the Premium model Simmons scopes and hope to get another before they run out. | By the way, don't let the price of the Simmons scope scare you. I've been to several shows in the past year and compared the clarity and power of: Leoupold, Nikon, Weaver,Bushnell(Bauch and Lomb), and Nikon. I found the Weaver and Simmons scopes to be way above all the others. Blount has really got their stuff together. The Simmons Premium scope I mentioned previous post is as fine a scope as the best Weaver Grand Slam... a $400.00 scope. Jesse

| I am suprised on the good remarks about simmons scopes I purchased one some years back and it was the worse scope I had owned, guess I will need to try one again perhaps they have improved and the price is right |

| The Simmons quality started picking up when Blount took over. I believe the Whitetail Classic was the first scope produced under Blount's tenure. The .44 mag in my opinion is the best production line scope made (for the money), period. The Premium Grade I mentioned in the previous post(s) is an uncataloged item. It is of truly wonderful quality. Jesse

| Thanks for the info Jesse, what type of mount and rings do you use with the simmons scope(8x32), high rings, standard, 2 piece mount or single.? Think I will try one.!!! |

| I picked up the Simmons Premium scope(s) for my new Remington 700 .223 Tactical. Stay tuned, because I will post how I mounted this scope. I've just got to find what works best for the rifle. Jesse
