FUN TO TAKE APART. NOT HARD BUT INTERESTING FIRING PIN DESIGN. THE STEVENS / SAVAGE SPRINGFIELD IS A FUN GUN. MY FIRST ONE WAS IN THE 40'S WITH A WEAVER G-4 SCOPE. THINK I HAVE 2 AND OR 3 NOW. LAST ONE WAS ABOUT $60.

Thumbs up

Amazingly good shooters for mass-market guns. I've had two Model 87A's, the first a "Ranger 101.sumthing" that was stolen awhile back. My current one is a Springfield 87A - eight slots on the leftside of the receiver and one in front of the ejection port.
It's a tackdriver, and puts to shame my near-new Ruger 10-22 and Marlin M60. They just can't compete.
I wish Savage would reintroduce this design - it wouldn't cost any more to produce than any standard .22 semiauto.
