Hello Serb
You are very welcome. One thing is when you get a model 219 or 220 you will be hooked for Life. The Sad Part is, There really isn't much info. on either of these Great gun's compared to the model 99's these are a dark shadow yet I know they will shoot every bit as good as any 99 because I have both..The 219's and 220's were considered a cheap alternative for guys that could not afford a model 99 yet Savage Placed High quality Barrels on them, so they shoot just as good and it is no secret with those of us that have them.. On some forums I have been shunned by the snobby model 99 Owners when I bring up the model 219 Yet there is a silence when I show actual target results from them.. Hammerdown

Folks,

Bought it and already love it...so light and in terrific shape...hosed the metal down with oil to give it alittle luster back...has a sliver like 1/4 crack in stock behind the tang safety but I wont shoot it enough to make it worse .. just a light balanced gun in a nice caliber...great pick up..I'm a sucker for a shotgun. ...

Thanks again.

Cracked Stock

Serb, I have discovered a new glue that works great on hairline cracks in wood, even if some oil is in the grain. It is called "Insta-Cure" (cyanoacrylate) and is made for model building. If the crack you describe is hairline with no gap it will work and you will have no need to worry about the crack getting larger. The glue is available at most hobby shops and sells for around $4.00 for a 1 oz. container. Warning, it drys instantly, and will bond your skin. Also, do not inhale the fumes. "Un-Cure" is available from the same company to use if you accidentally glue your fingers together. Also, the same company makes a 2nd glue, that will fill very small gaps and still hold strongly. I have used all 3 items for the past 2 or 3 years with good success.

26"barrel,open sights, Mfg 1938-1965. Don't know where to tell you to look for the serial # on the receiver , but some guns Mfg. in the early years did not have serial numbers, so it may not have one.

(value is dependant on condition, unless it is MINT, Otherwise, it is around 75-100 dollars)
75/100 dollars isn't a true statement. Those rifles go for around $250/500.

While I have seen some sell at auction for above $150 with only one barrel, I believe that is the exception. I have all rifle calibers except .32-20 and paid $100, $150 (for 3) and $200 for one and it had about $500 worth of custom stock. It is pictured above. These are really nice rifles and people are asking more. There are some at auction now with minimum bid prices at $250, etc., but there are no bids so far. At a March gunshow in Birmingham, Alabama, I bought an as new 220 12ga for $150. On another subject, I just ordered from Numrich the "replacement" steel trigger guards mentioned earlier. They shipped promptly and the guards are nicely blued steel and as new. I ordered them on line around 11 pm on a Sunday, and they were shipped first class mail on Monday and arrived on Wednesday. I plan on replacing the "pot metal" original guards on my guns, as the one I purchased that already had the steel guard looks so much better than the others. Best Wishes to all.

Question 219 30-30

I am looking for a 219 in 30-30. My wife has one her grandfather give her and I got the privilage of getting it out of her hands and shooting it. Fell in love with the gun. Unfortionately she did too and will not let me use it. So if anyone knows where I could get one of my own that would really be great.

Hello
The Savage Model 219 is a Rare find in today's World. My wife and I commonly share Gun's That I Purchase. In a mariage what is mine is her's and Vice versa. Replacing a Wife would be an easier thing to do than find another spare model 219 I would think... Suck up to her and Buy her something that will take up so much of her time that she would not have any spare time to enjoy the Savage...Hammerdown

Does anyone know where I can get a front sight for my 30-30 I think it’s a model 220 but I’m not sure it’s been a while since I have looked. I know my shot gun barrel is a 20 gage model 220 but I’m not sure about my 30-30 barrel and I would like to hunt with it again. I would appreciate the help.

.30-30 Model 219 Savage and Front Sight

Numrich (The Gun Parts Co) has front sights. If your action is marked M220, just order the front sight for the M219. They also have steel trigger guards to replace the pot metal ones that come on the gun. They are very pleasant to deal with. Not to long ago I ordered some parts on Sunday night and received them first class mail on Wednesday. Check Gun Broker on line. They have a .30, 219 up for auction now. They also have several from time to time, though many times the base bid listed is about twice what they are selling for and no one bids. The .30 and .22 hornet calibers are the most common. I picked up a 220 in .410 this past weekend at a show and had to pay $220 for it and I have nicer guns for less money, but it is the only .410 I have seen since I started collecting them. Good luck!

219C

I have a 219c 22 cal. Horne. It has a broken trigger guard. The replacement guard in Guns and Parts P/N 147830E does not look like the one I have broken off. I know mine was a cast one and the attaching screws are not visible and looks like the gun has to be taken apart, which I know nothing about doing. Would anybody know where I can get a trigger guard for ths rifle? Its a nice gun and I would really like to fix it and sell it if anybody is interested.

Thanks for your help.

Question Model 219

I just registered, this is my first input. I own a Savage Model 219 in .22 Hornet and was interested in buying a scope for it. My dad purchased it new in approx 1968, when I was 15 yrs old (I'm 55 now). It was never accurate for me and I think the hard sight was off. I shot one box of 50 rounds with it then put it away decades ago, until now.
Should I get a newer scope or one of the older Weaver types I've read about above in this forum? If so, what type? Also, is there a certain brand/type of rings I should be looking for, my gun has dovetail grooves in the rear portion of the barrel.
There is a gun show here in San Diego in a couple of weeks so I'll be looking there. Thanks in advance for your help.......Hank.

Traded Today

Did some trading today and brought home a Pre War 219 that looks almost new. Am quite happy with myself, I must say. It feels as good as the one I had as a kid but looks better.

Please see my earlier post. Numrich Arms has a very nice steel replacement trigger guard at a low price. Best Wishes.

Thanks for your help.

hi all. i picked up a 219 utica in 25-20 about three months back. and i am now awaiting delivery of another in 218 Bee and 12 gauge. can't wait until i get it. ( i bought it from interstate so i don't know what the quality will be like - you can't tell too much from a photo - but it was cheap so worth the risk). i'm assuming that a 218 bee would have started life as a hornet, in which case it will have a long jump to the lands, but maybe someone had a custom done?

anyway, great thread and i will post picks asap.
