I bought a 93R17-BVSS.. Am I gonna like it?

A local shop had their weekly "Sunday Sale" and were pawning off stuff that's been laying around the shop for a while..
The first thing that caught my eye was a 1942 M38 Swedish Mauser. After a couple minutes of inspection, and the fact that the price was $299, down from it's original price of a touch over $400, it was set behind the counter for me.

The other thing that caught my eye was the Savage 93R17-BVSS. It'd been around the shop for a while, but was still new with tags. I picked it up, and set it down.. Then I picked it up and set it back down..

The original price on it was $350, and it was marked down to $250.. Not a handling mark anywhere, and I liked the feel of the gun, and I've never owned an AccuTrigger but have played with them before (and it has one)..

So, apparently the third time's a charm, because when I picked it up the third time I said I'd take both and proceded to fill out the 4473 form..

So.. I've only had one other 17HMR, and it was a Rossi single shot, that shot so-so...

I've been reading reports and checking out prices on the internet tonight, and I feel I got a very good deal and all the reviews are positive on the gun. I picked up a set of scope mounts and will more than likely slap a Nikon scope on it very soon..

Again.. Am I gonna like it?

There's the problem. The shop is only open Friday/Saturday/Sunday during January. With the fact I bought it on Sunday, and IL's 24 hour waiting period on longguns, I'm not going to see it until Friday..

On the other hand, it gives me time to gather the scope, sling and swivels, and dig up my leftover ammo before heading to the range

That kinda sucks. I'll be picking up a BTVS in the near future just picked up a leupold scope for it and still deciding on mounts I wanna use. I've heard nothing but good about the accu-trigger setup and the 17's that savage makes it seems.

Yeah, but I moved to IL from WI and I knew the laws before I moved here. In WI it's cash and carry on long guns, but on the other hand the income tax is much lower here 2 miles into IL.. Give and take..

Anyway, I promise to post some photos of targets, once I get a chance to shoot it. It'll be nice to have a little tack driver.

If its not a tack driver right away i'd say bed the action and make sure the barrel is floated nicely. Rimfirecentral has 2-3 stickies on the savage bolt actions on how to strip and polish them to make them a lot smoother along with making the accu-trigger even lighter and more crisp with shims.

I have a 17, not in the bull barrell, with a 6x24-40 and it's a shooter. get a 1/8 minute scope. You will be able to dial it in and shoot the center out at 150 yds.
