| Hi all, I am looking for information on a shotgun my father gave me a few years back. It is a springfield/savage 67h. Why is it called 67h? Why Springfield and Savage on the gun? Any other knowledge on this shotgun? When I did a google search, it did not reveal as much as I would like. Any help out there? It will be appreciated! |

| Senior Member ![]() | A little history of the gun's manufacture: It was made from 1958-1989 by Savage Arms. Savage was their top of the line guns. Stevens was their middle grade, while Springfield was their lowest priced line. In my opinion their was no difference in the metal quality, but the Stevens and Springfields were not as well finished and the wood was not up to par with the Savage. It is a working man's gun, not a beauty contestant. There were some quality problems with these guns and they did not sell as well as the doubles made by Savage under the Fox, Stevens, and Springfield names. Some of the Savage line of guns started off with the A model and got as far as the H model. Yours is an H model and that gives me indication that it was made toward their last run of this model.

| Well, I checked with my father and he told me he bought it in 1969. he thought he paid $45 for it. No it is not fancy and worm on the stock, but not a bad shooter. I sure hope I do not face any issues with it. Still thinking of visiting a buddy's pawn shop for a Remington 870. Any other thoughts on the Springfield 67H? |
