I have one of these 22's and it is complete and in good working order but I am like you, unable to locate anything listed for it anywhere. It's really a neet little 22 and mine shoots really good. If I ever locate anything about it I'll try and let you know.
I went to lee's guns and he did have a diagram parts listing but no one knows anything about these rifles. Still trying to put it back together. The only thing that I am missing is the little spring that pushes the mag tube up when you open the bolt. Anybody know where I could find one?
I have a savage mdl 22 short rifle, sans the bolt and front sight. I really dont want to part it out, but would rather find someone who needs the parts and could possibly purchase it as is. If anybody knows of an entity that purchases such used old parts, would you please let me know who they are. I am new to the forum and could not find any rules, so i hope i am not violating any website rules or regs.
The Savage model 1911 introduced in 1911 and discontinued 1915. The rest is taken from Kimmels book:
The model 1911 repeater was a unique bolt action repeating rifle patterned after the modern military service arm. The chief claim to unique design lay in the magazine type. It was chambered for 22 shorts only and the magazine was located in the buttstock loaded through the buttplate. The capacity was 20 cartridges.
The rifle was short and light, weighing but 4 pounds and having a 20" barrel. The price in 1911 was $6.50. Stock was American Walnut with a shotgun type steel buttplate. A metal bead front sight was standard and the rear sight was an adjustable flat-top open type located on the barrel.
I've seen these guns with a factory rear peep sight that sat just in front of the chamber. I also have found a Marbles S4 peep sight for my model 1911 which was correct for the model. Thats about all I've got, anyone else?
Wrangler, I'm a Canuck to, email me if you wanna sell it "if the price is right"!
I am seeking parts for a model 1911 savage. I'm looking for the stock magazine tube plunger and plate or possible purchase of gun for parts. I would like to restore this gun in honor of my late father. It was his first gun.
