new here and want to learn

I fell in love with the 99's awhile back and am desperately trying to learn what is worthy and what is worthless. I have been taken a few times by guys telling me it was all original and it wasnt. my fault, shoulda known what I was looking for b4 buying anyways, here I am, my name is Brian and I wanna be a sponge.
