311 new or old

I have 3 311 shotguns 12,16 and 20 they all have different patterns on the stocks. Is this because of the year made or the gauge or what?

Most likely year made. Some serial ranges would be a start at dating them. They also came with tenite stocks which were butt ugly.

The 311 came with both wood and Tenite(plastic) stocks. You could order a wood replacement for the 311 with the NOTCH in the receiver. The one with the straight receiver came with the wood stock. I don't know why they did this. It never made sense to me either.
