| I have 3 311 shotguns 12,16 and 20 they all have different patterns on the stocks. Is this because of the year made or the gauge or what? |

| Most likely year made. Some serial ranges would be a start at dating them. They also came with tenite stocks which were butt ugly. |

| The 311 came with both wood and Tenite(plastic) stocks. You could order a wood replacement for the 311 with the NOTCH in the receiver. The one with the straight receiver came with the wood stock. I don't know why they did this. It never made sense to me either.
