Was made in 1966, should have a date code with a T in it on the front of the lever.

Thank you so much for the info on my rifle Mad Dog . My son & I both had been looking everywhere & were striking out . The one I had years ago was stolen from a surveying camp in Montana in 1985 . I had spoken of it so fondly over the years that when my son Kahill came across one he picked it up as a present for me . I haven't had my hands on it yet . Kahill says the rifling looks pristine but the is rebluing it & also refinishing the stock before sending it . I can hardly wait . Guess I'm in the payoff stage of parenting . I was a single parent to Kahill for 18 years on a ranch in Montana so we're very close . Both of us are now way looking forward to deer & elk season this year . Thanks again .

Savage 99F for sale

Long time lurker here.

I am forced to offer for sale my Savage 99F, serial#943XXX, Date code 17I, .308 Win., lever safety, brass counter, steel buttplate.

Rifle is 98%. Case colors have light fading. Very few, minor freckles on each side of receiver that are hardly noticable. Bluing is 99% otherwise. Has older Redfield 2 3/4 mounted. Dovetail filler in rear sight dovetail. I have the original rear sight and original scope base filler screws.

Offers?

That's less than I'd consider without the scope/mount/rings.

One just like it w/o optics and not quite as nice on Gunbroker is over $830 right now.

I'll get pics on here tomorrow.

No offense taken.

I know it would be better to post an asking price but I was looking for reasonable offers from fellow 99 enthusiasts. I've had the rifle for a long time. I bought it in the condition it's still in when my wife and I moved back to the Great North Woods region of NH from Alaska in '98.

The freckling isn't really freckling, it's just a few spots that developed from someone carrying the rifle. Not pitted or rusty, just tiny spots. I can't really get them photograph very well.

I took some pics that I can email to interested parties while I try to figure out how to post pics here.....

Speaking of 99's that might be for sale. I have what I believe to be a 99 EG in .300 at home that I am looking to get rid of. I bought(stole) it for $200 from a friend with about 150 rounds of ammo. It has a luepold 3-9x40 scope on it and it is in what I would consider perfect condition. I was hoping someone could clue me in to the value of this gun. Or if someone wants to make an offer, feel free.

As a seller what things should I list about this gun?

I will get pictures tonight and post them here to confirm what model it is and condition.

Made in 1951.

Those mounts are called Stith mounts and will sell to a collector for around $250 for just the mounts.

If anyone is interested in a great collector I have a friend who has a 99G Deluxe Takedown Pistol Grip Rifle,Weaver M-330 scope, w/Stith Mount and original rear sight. 30-30 caliber in excellent condition. Seems to be a great gun. Just out of my price range. I am a low budget collector.

Hi, I just joined today. I did not realize that the 99F was a collectible. I collect military firearms. My father in law passed away four years ago and left an assortment of firearms that I acquired, cleaned and inspected and put away in my safe. One is a 99F with a serial # of 1083***(past the million mark) which places the build somewhere in the 60's I suppose. I was considering selling it because it doesn't fit in with my current interests. The overall condition of the rifle approaches 98%. Caliber 308. The one negative, and it really drives me crazy when people do this, is my father in law stenciling his drivers licensing number upon the lever arc which inserts into the receiver after cocking the lever. Double-drives me crazy because the entire lever mechanism is beautifully case hardened! Anyway, can anyone advise me as to a fair market value of this rifle for gun show or ebay sales? Like I said, prices are all over the map and yes, I realize that the stencil will drop the value. Thank you.

A 1964 make.

I'd put it on Gunbroker and see how much the auction clowns will pay, usually double what it's really worth.
