It mystifies me sa to why bench resters and railgunners spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars for custom setups and can't get as good of groups as some on here get with out of the box, cheap rifles and thrown togather handloads,or even sometimes, mfg,d ammo.I have some custom rifles and when they shoot under .775" I think they are exelent shooters, and if they go under.500" I am on cloud 9.And that is only with very careful handloads tuned to the individual rifle.I wish some of you experts shooting .200" and under would post a few of your secrets. As to savage rifles,my experience with the M110 is they have been exelent shooters as a rule since they came out in 1958 and usually would group under 2",s at 100yds and some exceptions went around 1".This was always with proper cooling time between shots. They have had some QC problems at times, especially in the 80,s but even these shot good and the problem was fit and finish mostly. ,,,sam.

it's simple. i make my daily sacrifices to BAAL and YOGSOTHOTH and be sure to wipe each round (as well as myself) with an unborn goathide before each shot.

| Senior Member | Sam I understand where you are coming from, I personally have a 110 and I am happy with the 1.25" groups I am able to get out of it. Considering that it was under $500.00. I do use my reloads, and as you say they are thrown together, sometimes I even use the same types of bullets for most of my batch, and once I even weighed that powder stuff every 38 cartridges instead of the usual 1 out of every 180 or so cartridges. And once I even reloaded when I was sober… Despoiler Savage 110 .308 |
