Mark II-G First Ever Rifle!

Greetings! Today I bought my first every rifle - .22 Mark II-G.

I'm new to this forum but not to this world - I'm 54 and just thought it was time to get a gun. My brother-in-law was born to shoot/hunt and he said everyone should have at least one .22 and learn how to shoot with that before going on to anything else.

Here's my question: This rifle has a 10 cartridge magazine which is OK for storing a lot of ammo but is hard on the hand when hand carrying the rifle. Does Savage make a 5 cartridge magazine for this rifle or would the 5 cartridge mag from one of their other .22 cal models fit in this rifle?

I am in Australia but my local gun dealer only had 5 shot clips for the Mark II Savage .22. I'm not if the "G" makes it different. Best bet would be to contact your local Savage dealer.

Thanks for the info. I figured I would probably have to call Savage direct on Monday morning, but thought I'd try to get a jump on it.
