I got a Stoger coach gun with modified bores. I only wish it had ejectors instead of extractors.

Not yet, getting started. Have'nt even thought about shotshells yet. Besides I'm sure they're easier to recover than .45 acp shells. Spent about an hour picking up brass sunday.

extractors are nice when you aren't in a hurry to reload and when you don't have to pick up the empties off the ground..

A double is fine if you INTEND to shoot the guy. If you just want them 'gone'...without making a bloody mess, then a pump is the way to go, especially if it is dark. A pump makes a very distinctive sound when working the action. Any 'educated' crook is gonna know the sound and that he is in deep Doo-Doo. If you are standing in the dark with a loaded double...and anounce "I have a gun".....he could think you are bluffing. So, you can shoot him anyway.....but your wife might be pissed about the mess on the floor.

If somebody comes into MY house in the night. He WILL leave in a body bag. I'll clean up the mess. If he's not armed when he comes in he will be when the cops get there.

Rebel,
I'll second that.

As far as using a double, as long as it's a real one and not what i have. A normal one, hey, quickest first two shots you've ever seen come out of a shotgun, so yeah i'd use it. But the one i have is a little 410 derringer-wanna-be snake gun, so i'll either grab a 500 mossberg 12 ga, or a NEF single 12 ga, which are both sitting side by side next to my bed for the prupose of defense. And yes, they both have buttcuffs with extra ammo.

double barrels are more expensive than pump shotguns..but I wouldn't feel undergunned with a double..there was a great scene in "the Bourne Identity" involving the main character using a double barrel in a gunfight

Question Marlin side by side ?!

New Model LC12-DB

This 12-gauge double barrel features a 3" chamber, a single trigger, selective automatic ejectors, three choke tubes (IC, M, F), 28" barrels with a solid rib and a bead front sight. Its walnut stock is checkered, and has a fluted comb, a beavertail forearm and a recoil pad.

http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firear...hs/LC12-DB.htm

there's even an over/under !

Ja, that's all news to me!

Too bad O/U shotguns are so wretchedly expensive! Any idea of why, besides all the ornateness that they're usually given?

Lightbulb

I believe it takes some labor to make both barrels use the same one sight..alot of solder and sweat in the old days..maybe some vestiges of that now

Recently got a hardly used Richland Arms SxS 12 g., 3" nicely engraved, walnut stock. It's actually a Spanish Zabala Bros. imported under the now defunct Richland Arms brand. I posted about it awhile back but I guess no one ever heard of 'em. Awesome gun though for 289.00. Very well made and tight as a vault.
It now sits next to the bed at night and will likely put some pheasant or duck on the table in a few weeks.
