| If I had to. I'd rather have a pump gun or an auto though. 4 or 7 shots vs 2 is simple. I don't think any 12ga is *bad* as a defensive weapon regardless of the load. Some are better than others, but none are bad.

| I'll second that. I'd rather have a pump but a double will do in a pinch.

| I like double barrels..I used to have a Savage side by side 12 gauge..sold it when I ran into some money trouble around 13 years or so ago |

| Nothing wrong with a double barrel. As long as you have a stock ammo band with extra shells available. |

| How about 3 more doubles and 3 pumps for backup? Not to mention a lever action a bolt action and several singles.

| Two barrels might have a better intimidation effect on the robber or whoever you need to defend yourself from. Do it. |

| I keep my eyes peeled for a double barrel Savage but I think people are holding on to them..the double barrels I do see are commanding collector prices..I'll just have to make do with my Remington 870 |
