Which one has more steel?

I've been googling Mossberg and Remingtons and have read so much that it's starting to confuse me. I read that Mossberg 590A1 shotguns have a metal trigger guard...which I assumed would be steel. But then I read a few things saying it's Aluminum as well as the receiver. I read that the Remington M 870 Police has a metal receiver and trigger guard and another that says the trigger guard is Polymer.

I would like to get the gun with the most steel. Steel receiver, trigger guard, heavy barrel everything. Do I get it all with the Remington 870P or will I have to choose which 1 or 2 traits I want?

The reciever is the largest portion of the gun.
Mossberg Aluminum alloy
Remington Steel

I'm a big remmy fan, but have a lot of respect for the Mossberg & shoot an Aloy reciever Sx2. All have thier good points, albeit the Remington has more steel

I'm kinda polymer-phobic, too. I guess it's just having been brought up with steel guns.
I figure I'm gonna have to get over it cause almost everthing has some polymer parts.
Both the Mossbergs and Remingtons I see in the shop have polymer trigger guards. (that may be different on a police model) Remington has a steel receiver and Mossberg has an alloy receiver. Both have excellent reputations so it probably doesn't matter.
The other option is to look for a older used gun. The were metal throughout in the old days. Probably early nineties and earlier.

The Moss 590 A1 I believe is indeed mostly steel. The standard 590, including the special purpose model with heat shield and bayo lug, has the same aluminum and plastic content as the M500. Yes the Remington has more steel.

I would check out other features of the gun before looking at aluminum verses steel. Both are quality, durable guns - they have been around for quite some time. But, they do have some differences in fit and handling that should be very important considerations. For the record I own 870's and a Winchester 1300 (which is also a nice gun).

If you want a heavy barrel and steel trigger guard and receiver, Mossberg 590A1 is probably the right choice as long as a 20" cylinder bore barrel is suitable for all your uses, as no other is available for it.
