Cool New Toy!!!!!!!

:right: :right: :right: :right: :right:
Just bought my new toy, this Mossberg Model 500 Field Slug Combo has 2 bbls.

A 24" open sights with ported bbl and a 28" vented rib with bead bbl.

It should be here in around 2 weeks, then I'll have to register it for hunting.

Can't wait until it arrives!!!!

I'll keep you posted......................

Cool Mandy.
Not my favorite but I have a lot of respect for the mossy's. My son uses them and bags just as much game and smashes as many clays as I do.
Let us know how slugs shoot out of it. They do ok in my son's 20ga. He used the remington slugs in his for best results. His is smoothbore though. Is yours smoothbore or rifled?
I just got a 12ga for him. Got a rare good deal...........$25.00

I picked the Rem 870 for a rifled barrel partly because it was unported and Mossbergs are all ported - is this correct of yours?

I have an unported mossberg 500 rifled cantilevered bbl. Now all I have to do is site it in, Its a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Cool Counting the days...................

Not sure about the rifling, it may be rifled or not, will know when it arrives. The 24" bbl is ported, and probably this will get the hunting duty, the 28" bbl probably will be used for clay duty.Since my experience with shotguns is with combat S/Gs, (590), this would be a new experience. In case the bbl is rifled, Is the rifling ammo sensitive?, would it need to be used only with slugs?I got a scope and scope mount for it, the scope on the 590 didn't made any sense, so I removed it until a hunting gun was bought.Counting the days to arrive...................It was a special order, and my FFL dealer had to bring it in and register it for me, when I get my hands on it, I've to register it for hunting if I want to hunt with it.

Something is wrong with this editor, it keeps bunching up all the diferent lines of the post.Mods, any ideas?

As a general rule of thumb;

Rifled barrels use sabots

Smoothbores use Fosters

Correct. Some people have used lead shot in rifles barrels without damage but with a random and wide spread resulting. Steel shot should never be used in rifled barrels.

Cool Finally here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

:ballons: :ballons: :ballons: :ballons: :ballons:
Yesterday took it out of the box, and the Shotgun was awesome!!!!

It came with 2 bbls:
28"bbl 2 beads Vented Rib, Ported, Smooth Bore with 3 chokes, Full, Mod, Imp Cyl and wrench.
24"bbl Adj. Iron Sights, Ported, Rifled

Since here Sabots are very rare, the instructor at the range told me that it's OK to use Rifled Slugs in the rifled bbl, but never on the choked bbl.
For the choked bbl, he gave me a table describing the suggested shot size for diferent aplications (game & range).

Looks like I got a lot to master with this gun!!!!!!

A bonus was that the extra bbl, came in the box clamped to the installed bbl with an OEM Mossy light holder, this one is going into my 590 with a Mini Mag.
