The Remington 870 is one of the most reliable shotguns on the market, I have nothing negative to say about it

Was the most prevalent shotguns in U.S. Military inventory for better than 20 years till some cheap bastid civilian in the Ordnance Department decided the Mossberg 500 was a better value. IMHO the first 500's we got (circa 1984) were POS, they didn't hold up to the heavy use we in the Military subjected them too> That said the 500 has been much improved over the years. But for my money Give me the 870!

| Senior Member | I am also going to repeat what the rest have stated, The Model 870 Express is a fine shotgun. I will not say anything negative about mine, good reliable shotgun. I am not sure what your budget is or what you are planning to do with the shotgun I will say that you may want to consider the Model 870 Wingmaster, it is a nicer shotgun. Either one is worth it, get what you need and can afford. Despoiler |

My Dad and I have three 870's between us, and have owned two for thirty years. My ship in the Navy had the 870 in it's armory - I carried it on many Security Alerts and drills. I know the 870 and trust it!
