MAG 7

I HAVE ONE FOR MY COLLECTION. I DO NOT SHOOT IT BUT WILL OFFER MY IDEAS. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU HANDLE ONE BEFORE BUYING. IT DOES NOT HANDLE LIKE MOST GUNS AND TO ME IS A LITTLE ODD WITH ITS PUMP SETUP. THE STOCK IS CUT TO MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE EASY TO FIRE FROM HIP LEVEL. WHILE WE IN THE US CAN NOT USE THE STOCKLESS MODEL THAT MAKES MORE SENSE TO ME. AS TO THE SHELLS MINE ARE MARKED AAA AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT SHOT SIZE THAT IS? NOT MUCH HELP.

I have a Poseidon pump shotgun made specifically for these rounds, and the shells come in 3 offerings. One is 5/8 oz. load of #7-1/2 shot. The second load combines 7 pellets of #4 buckshot with 4 pellets of #1 buckshot (pretty nasty from my pump gun!). The third is a slug load with a 7/8 oz. slug in it. They are all 2-1/2 dram loads. The slugs travel at 1,250fps, compared to 1,400-1,600 for a 1 or 1-1/4 oz. standard 12 gauge shell. It definitely is no slouch.
You are not really losing anything with the mini shells. The really cool thing is you can grab about 10 at a time in your hand, and they do reload faster, too. I had a minor modification to my 870 so it will function with these shells, and I love the versatility. I have the 7-shot extended mag on my 870, and I can hold 11 rounds of the mini shells. If you have a single shot 12 gauge, these shells will work in them. Pumps require the minor mod on the elevator. They are great little rounds, and I think you will like them. HTH

I'll have to call the gunsmith and ask him. He told me about it, but I have since forgotten it. The mod only took about 20 minutes, though, so I was in and out fairly quick.
