| Need help choosing which gun to use on ducks
Ok I have three 12ga's that I'm thinking about using for duck season. 1.Moss 500 28in. will shoot 3in shells i believe 2. Remington 1100 full synthetic 28in 2 3/4in. 3. 870 wingmaster 28in 2 3/4in shells. Also has 30in trap barrel-can I use different chokes besides the trap ones that came with it?(I know stupid question but am still asking it) So lets here the opinions. |

All three will possibly do the job. You will be using steel shot. Most modern shotguns with screw in chokes will accept steel ok, as a general rule of thumb. 2 3/4" steel is good for ducks over decoys. Estate has a nice 1 1/4 oz load at 1400 fps. Typicaly 3" fodder is more commonly available & in more shot sizes. I'm a big fan of 3 shot in steel, sometimes #2's. Yes you can use additional rem chokes in your 870 There are also specialty chokes, pattern master, wad wizzard etc for most guns. The best bet may be the Mossy. Reliable pump, 3" capable, most likely good for steel shot. Go out and warm up on a little trap and skeet. Happy Duck Hunting
