That's why Mossberg markets a breaching shotgun with a standoff--it has vents cut in to allow the gases to escape. Actually, the wall defeating power of a shotgun at near muzzle contact ranges is outstanding. There are shells with powdered lead slugs that are made specifically for taking out locks and hinges. | |

Wow. You guys (Jerry, Mooseman, Uncle Red, Samuel) really make me feel a peanut-brain. I'd love to say that I grasp the basics of what you're telling me, but frankly most of it went over my (solid bone) head. Am I right in thinking that the main points here are: (a) Expect the shotgun to jump back anything from five to ten feet and (b) Never fire a shotgun in space if you can avoid it - yes? Your co-operation is hugely appreciated. (I freely admit to having dozed for years on end in Physics class. In Math class I simply died peacefully in my sleep.) |
