| Member | IT'S CHEAP IS IT ANY GODD? Charles Daly Field Tactical 12 Ga. Looks like you can pick up up one of these for around $175.00 thats pretty cheap for a bedroom gun, IF IT IS RELIABLE ENOUGH YOU COULD COUNT ON IT IF YOU NEEDED IT! A gun that jams or doesn't feed is just an expensive club! Anybody own one, anybody got an opinion? |

| yeah i'd like to know as well. where on earth are you finding it for 175 though? right now for a cheap short barrel pump gun it has come down to the Charles Daly Field Tactical or a Hatsan Escort AimGuard for me. In the end it will be how they rate compared to each other and which is cheaper |

| I don't know about those shotguns, but I will recommend spending 75-100 bucks more and getting a Mossberg 500.

| Member | I have a Remington 1100 that I has a ext mag and a 20" barrel, but I would like to have a cheap pump too. I don't think you can have too many 12ga shotguns and right now I don't have a pump. Just lookin' to ad one. |

| ill have to check that one out too. only reason i came down to the daly and the hatsan because i really didnt know what else there was out there cheap. i emailed a gun dealer that a friends dad recommended and asked for any 12 guage pump with about an 18" or 20" barrel for under 200. whatever he comes back with ill consider. any brand any make doesnt matter |

| I've seen the same shotgun for $169.99. Good for home defense, that's about it. G-Meister

| I've heard more than once about how their autoloaders frequently experience problems with the bolt handle shearing off, but that problem is usually correctable, and since you aren't looking at the autoloader, rather irrelevant. I can't say much about the Daly's, but the company is now in the AR-15 market, so they've got to have at least some quality firearms. I would also look at the Mossberg Maverick. Every week, they go for $165 (the 6 shot, 18" model) at Academy Outdoors. The only difference I noticed between the Maverick and the Mossberg 500 when I picked them both up is weight, and safety location. The Maverick was much lighter due to the fact that its made out of a light material. I'd find a gunshop that has both models and go compare how they feel. Also, make sure the Daly has two slide-action bars, not one, as this will prevent binding.

| Do some research - it may be difficult Going back several decades you will find the Charles Daly name comes and goes in the marketplace. I recommend, if possible, finding out exactly who is manufacturing this incarnation and who is importing it. I will search for this information and will post if found. I encourage others to do the same. For a start, I will try to find out who now owns the Charles Daly name. |

| you should be able to find a good used 870 remington for $200. then you know you'll have a trustworthy shotgun. |

If some crackhead is kicking down my front door I don't want to be wondering if I skimped too much on my shotgun. I don't think 75-100 bucks is worth your family's lives and safety.
