slug guns

im looking for a slug gun or barrel(rifled) a barrel for the 870 12 gauge is around the same price of a rossi or H&R single shot slug gun which gauge is better(accuracy,Range, knockdown power, etc.) and i heard the single shots would be more accurate is this true

general rule of thumb. if the sighting system (irons or optics) is somehow connected to the BARREL, your odds of better accuracy follow. Range and knock down power have nothing to do with the action, pump, bolt, semi etc.....

The deer in my avatar was taken with a smoothbore 12 at 75 yards with a 1 oz foster slug, iron sights. The irons are more accurate than the saddle mount that fits to my reciever and wears a scope. The barrel is not in the same palce every time, eh.

if i get the barrel it will be the kind with connected scope rail no iron sights but i heard barrels on pumps and semis slightly move making them less accurat shot to shot vs the single shot or a bolt action

yes, but if the sighting system is attached to the barrel, ie.. cantilever or irons, they move with the barrel. Cool?

yeah makes sense so you think there will be no accuracy diff between pump and single shot b/c then ill just get the scope barrel combo ....don't have to deal with firearms dealer can just order online.................................i love my 870 too

are you slug gun restricted? How long is your farthest shot? How are you on recoil?

yes slug and buckshot restricted, 200 yards from one stand(doubt that will happen with a slug gun unless its The 1800 dollar deer slayer) and about 75-80 from another stand, recoil doesn't matter im 14 i still have a long time before recoil matters to me

I can only hunt with slugs too. most accurate slug gun i had was a rossi single shot. I have a friend who has the 870 with the rifled slug barrel and it was also very accuarate, but either way get the iron sights on it.

i heard that. do yall know sites that deal in the rossi barrels?

do they sle the rossi single shots with scope mounts already on them? and if so wouls you steer away from that and lean more towards the iron sites? from experience, is the rossi accurate?

Mossberg sales clone 870 barrels that are rifled and a lot cheaper price than oridginal remington barrels.
Go to Mossberg's web site and also check this site too Havlin Sales & Service - Mossberg Gun Parts

bargerfeist135 I contacted this site to order a 28" ventalated Rib barrel for my Remton Wingmaster 12ga. that has a 30" smooth barrel on it and they had sold out of the one I wanted.
At those prices at Havlin you can't hardly beat them...A.H
