shot the gun for the first time

12ga. Pardner pump

i was surprise with the less recoil of the gun...well of course i started of wit birdshot 7 1/2 1 1/8 oz....after getting use to that for a little bit, i tried 1 buckshot 00 buckshot and felt the big difference...and now after taking a shower, i saw the mark of the gun on top of my arm pit...anyone know or wat would you recommend doing to avoid getting bruised mark...is there such thing as shoulder pad that you can jus put it around your shoulder area, not on the gun itself...

wat do you guys think after shotting the birdshot and buckshot, of me trying slugs? how are slugs recoils more stronger than the bird and buckshots?

Just get over it and tuff'in up LOL !!! How did you like the Pardner Pump 12ga. ???
I bought the 20ga. Walnut model and I am blown away by the quality.
I hope you feel the same about yours.
There is a long story at another forum that did a very detailed report on these shotguns, even had a metal urligist disect one and tested the metal.
In many case's and sad to say it was equael to better that the 870 remington.
They even shot it 20,000 times or more with out a problem.

Did you have any problems with yours ? Mind me asking what you paid ?

Thanks for any info you can provide on your shotgun ...A.H

The surest way to ruin your day is to let the shotgun "creep" off your shoulder before you fire it. Make sure that you keep the recoil pad/butt-plate of the shotgun firmly anchored to your shoulder. (That does not mean white-knuckled, death grip, muscles quivering tight...)
Recoil with slugs is more severe than bird shot or buck shot, and "magnum" (3") or hyper-velocity loads "kick" more than standard 2-3/4" loads. FWIW, I can shoot my 12 ga. all day with bird shot with no problems. OTOH, I can tolerate shooting about 10 -12 rounds max with standard 1 oz. slugs (approx. 1600 fps). After that I'm done, my shoulder "feels" it for a day or so but is not bruised; if I exceed about 15 slug rounds I will be bruised and very sore from the recoil.
When you start shooting slugs, start slow and only shoot a couple or three. If it hurts, then STOP shooting slugs for that day or you will develop a flinch that is a devil to cure.
YMMV,

for ArkansasHunter : i like my pardner...i thought it was going to be cheap performance since it's cheap but i was wrong...problems? well i jus started using it. 20,000 shots? they could last that long? i got it for $209 plus all the other bs fees came to $256.

for OldTimer ; bruised? i got it...i think its when i relocate the recoil pad to a different area around the shoulder...i shot 25 birdshots and 1 00buckshot and felt the difference...and i dont really get ur abbreviations...lol sorry...

im pretty sore, i guess i wont be at the range for a week or jus a couple of days...i still gotta get use to the freakin recoils..hehe

Sorry about the abbr's. LOL!
FWIW=For What It's Worth
OTOH=On The Other Hand
YMMV=Your Mileage May Vary
LOL=Laughing Out Loud (but not at you.)

Check out this link for way more abbreviations than you or I are likely to encounter: OLOCA: The Official List of Cygwin Acronyms

HTH

Anywho, just take it slow and don't rush it. You'll get used to the recoil just fine. Good luck and be well,
