Weatherby orions (made by SKB) can be had for $795, and are three times the gun that your other choices represent. I've seen both Stogers and the Baikals with split buttstocks and forends due to very poor fitting and cheap wood. I wouldn't recomend them to anyone. Sorry!

I'd look around for a used Miruku (sp?). They made some decent guns in the 70's & 80's under their name and the Charles Daly label.
