| Perrins Shotgun Makers of Worcester - England
Perrins of worcester made shotguns during the period 1831 - 1896. If you have one and would like to join the 'Owners Club' please get in touch. Below is a press release with contact details. Perrins of Worcester, Gunmakers. A group of Perrins Gun Owners have recently formed a club to pull together information on this gunmaker and set up a web site as a reference point. The web site address is http://www.perrins-gunmaker-of-worcester.org.uk/. Membership is free and the only requirement is that you own a Perrins gun made in Worcester and you supply photos and detail for your own page on the web site. If you own a Perrins, or know someone else who does, then get in touch. The e-m address is webmaster@perrins-gunmaker-of-worcester.org.uk At the moment we have members who own Pepperpot pistols, converted rook rifles, percussion cap muzzle loaders, breach loading hammer guns in 20, 16, 14, 12 and 10 bore. We also have a member who has a very unusual ‘dummy hammer’ breach loading shotgun and another with an early side lock. We know there are many more out there as Holts sold a pin fire shotgun a few years ago and there is also an 8 bore double rifle, which was part of the W.Keith Neal collection. We also know of a 32 calibre rim fire revolver for sale at Kranks. This family firm was founded in Worcester in 1831 and the latest gun we have found was proofed after 1896, so they were in business for around 65 year, covering one of the most innovative periods in gun making. We recently came across a 19 bore precision rifle for sale in Auckland with the engraving ‘Perrins & Son, Gun makers to HRH The Prince Consort, Winsor’ on the barrel. While Perrins are not considered one of the very top makers the quality and diversity of the different guns they made make this a fascinating firm to research and collect. JC |
