| Super Moderator ![]() | Freakish conversion: 357 Rem Mag This is a "just for the heck of it" idea, but how does the idea sound? It would need a new barrel with a much larger gas port. The base is the same as 7.62x39mm. It would need a new mag, probably somethin feeding a box mag that mounts llike a duckbill and has a feedramp. Why? No practical reason whatsoever. Too heavy to be a practical pistol carbine. Not extremely potentially accurate. Not cheaper to shoot. The only perk is wider bullet holes and low recoil, being a heavy gun with lighter cartridge. Time to think of somethin useful for a change.

| Howsabout a Desert Eagle .357 Mag magazine, fitting into a fixed duckbill adapter in the gun? Add the gastube-mounted scout scope and a light-weight synthetic stock - you'd have a nifty carbine.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I was thinking single stack mag as well, and Desert Eagle would fit the bill perfectly. You know, this isn't sounding so crazy after all. Only thing is the weight, but I suppose a lighter barrel would help that.

| Super Moderator ![]() | Nope, only this "kid" thinks this stuff up, and I'm not at college again for another 3 weeks. Toss in the fact that I'm now of drinking age and voila! No, kids on regular campuses are debating whether to socialize America in two years and install a government of muskrats as reparations for the fur trade, or to submerge it into the sea and install a manatee government as reparations for running over them in powerboats. Tonight it was Scotch.

| Troll, the well-used Yugos are notorious for this. The gas valves are usually corroded, and letting too much gas escape around it to work the action. Mine did it too. My fix was simple. I removed the gas valve and cleaned it well, degreasing it. Then I coated it with Permatex Blue Gasket Maker, and reinstalled it. Be sure to close the grenade sight and put the valve button in the semi-auto position, then let it setup. Once set, the valve can still be turned, and the stuff can be removed later if need be. It stays pliable, doesn't get hard. Mine has been rockin' and rollin' for over a year now - no problems. It seals the gas very well.

| Thanks I will try that. It has been drivin me nuts. I have had it apart so many times. Someone put this in a fiber stock, and when I take the gas tube off the piston just falls out. I got the weapon in a trade deal have about 20 bucks in the thing. I put the gas tube from my Romainian on it and still wont fire. The gas tube doesnt seem to fit correctly. I will try the permetex and see what happens. I just want to get it functional so I can sell it with with out feeling like I screwed someone. |
